I played trombone in high school and this happened to me. After the big Homecoming half time show we tucked our instruments under our arms and swung them side to side as we marched off the field to the rhythms of the drum line. I forgot to hook a finger under the front slide brace and my slide flew off to who knows where. Fortunately I spotted it in a place along our path and I scooped it up without being too far out of line.

That’s what I’m sayin’. I gotta walk half a mile for a donut and then half a mile home, so it balances out.
Years and years ago when I worked graveyard shift in a convenience store we’d give free coffee to the deputies. They would always swing by around 3:30 am when the fresh donuts came in.
A few months ago they opened a Krispy Kreme within walking distance of where I live.
Back in ’75 our seventh grade class went to see the Freedom Train, which was like a museum on rails.
This was back before people started using their cell phones on speaker in public.
I realize that trains have nothing to do with today’s discussion, but I’m still grooving on all of what I saw last week.
Oh yeah….. Big Boy (4014) double heading with 844, then I saw the Jupiter and the 119 (working replicas) at Promontory Summit, it was awesome!
