six legs is not a lot… holding either a centipede or a millipede is a lot of legs; they have roughly 100 and 1000 legs respectively

You can see them when the electric lights are off, but you can’t see them when the electric lights are on. Something to drive Petey crazy.

It’ll lay eggs under your bed. You’ll hear things under there at night.

Last night Hubby asked me to come outside for a moment. We live on the edge of a state park, and every tree in sight was loaded with lightening bugs, all the way to the top. It was the most enchanting thing I’ve ever seen! All the more ethereal because there’s no way you could capture it on film.

Jeez. The six legs don’t bother me. It’s the eights and the hundred and thousand leggers that scare the crap out of me!

Four legs good. Two legs bad. Six is right out.

Why is it that every time I see Petey I think of Warren Zevon’s “Excitable Boy”?

Oh, Petey. C’mon, boy up! Lightning bugs are as friendly as a bug can be. Why are you so afraid of six-legged harmless critters?
