Nice nod to the history of May Day and Communism. In one of his blog posts several years ago, Jimmy mentioned that the original date for our Labor Day was to be May First but, because of the Soviet Union, the date was changed.
Stop supporting Big-Ag and Petro-Chem profiteering overlords. Resist foreign invasive species relocation madness. No watering unless it came from a rain barrel.

May I point out that the men seem to be doing the hard manual labor, while at least one woman is shown sprinkling either fertilizer or bug repellant on a shrub. Therefore, when Arlo yells workers unite, I believe that he is being sarcastic about it. I could be wrong and maybe Mr. Johnson is a full blown Communist, but somehow I doubt it.
It used to be that Mayday brought on a lot of Commie bluster. Which proved to be all sham of course. Like their political system.Arlo is just using the memory to display his displeasure with spring gardening necessities. We all need to cry out in frustration sometimes.
Apparently Arlo’s neighbor has previous experience with his eccentricities.
It’s amazing how many people in the former USSR, having experienced “Free-Market” Capitalism, would prefer to go back to Soviet Communism under Mikhail Sergeevich. I suppose they must have noticed how little real difference there is between the nominally-different predators.

The moment when you don’t know if he’s validating the neighbors’ conceptions or just screwing with them.
