I just know all the Trumpistas are so proud of themselves. They’ve placed a Russian mole in the Oval Office. Vlad himself couldn’t have done it better.
To those who said that the CIA said there were WMDs in Iraq. This is untrue. This is another Trump LIE. The CIA refused to say so and CHENEY, remember Cheney? formed a "special " intel unit which said it, and then Cheney FORCED the CIA to endorse the lie. Just like now.
The hammer and sickle is a communist symbol popularized by the Soviet Union and the International communist parties. While still used by the communist parties in post-soviet regions it is hardly appropriate for Russia today.
Mr. Putin leads the “United Russia” Party, which is at odds with the Communist party.
According to Wikipedia: “Although the United Russia Party’s popularity has declined from its peak of 64.4% in the 2007 Duma elections to 49.32% in the 2011 elections, United Russia remains the most popular party in the country, ahead of the second-placed Communist Party at 19.19%.”
The “United Russia” party has little ideological coherence beyond declaring its ideology “Russian Conservativism.” Basically, it is a party of power, and has had strong support in the democratic elections since 1999.
Finally the 4th estate has started doing a bit of real reporting. Yes America’s intelligence community has real evidence that Russia did indeed hack the Democratic campaign.
the Republican party wants the US to be like Russia. They want their leaders to rule by fear and fake respect. Have tyrannical control of the people. and They want us to live like were in Russia. Obvious from the comments on here an other toons today, The Republicans have no problem with Russia’s role in US politics.
Using Third Republic France as a model, with monarchists on the right of the Chamber of Deputies, and anarchists on the left is of no use in describing 21st century US politics; or much else. They are fare more alike than different: dictatorships, rubber-stamp legislature voted on by a minority of the population, kangaroo courts, etc. Even superficial differences just show the communists a bit more honest: they admit being atheist while fascists have their Concordat and Reichskirke of compliant religions but no religious freedom in either.
Trump is no communist. Neither is Putin. Trump is, however, mentally ill. He is a sociopathic narcissist with ADHD. We have to keep this in mind as the appropriate lens to interpret his behavior. His Putin love is likely about two things. First, before the election, Trump’s illness compelled him to ignore the risks and thus mismanage his businesses into six bankruptcies. This is a result of his inability to act sanely and prudently. The bankruptcies made him a poor risk, and lending banks wouldn’t finance his projects if he was in charge. So he likely went to Russian oligarchs for money. He certainly sold them a lot of real estate, and his holding company had heavy traffic with a top Russian oligarch-controlled bank. So, there’s no absolute proof, but the facts are in evidence for his borrowing from Russians. Second, Putin sort of praised Trump, calling him the Russian word for colorful, which, narcissist that he is, Trump understood as a compliment. Because of his mental illness, Trump saw Putin’s comment as an endorsement (which it may have been, who knows?) and started to parade around praising Putin in return. That reaction is classic APD narcissism. Just ask any mental health professional. Everything Trump does is tainted by his mental illness. We shall see the outcome of this ugly experiment in public mental health in time. But to ignore Trump’s sociopathy, narcissism, and ADHD is to profoundly misunderstand his motivations and behaviors.
Tom, your copy and pasting skills are admirable. Your discernment ability, not so much. I ain’t whining. I’m observing. Your inability to tell the difference is a pretty good indication of your ability to comprehend the written word.
