I know a kid who refuses to eat carrot cake because of the carrots. In my balance sheet the cake out weighs the carrots. The jello would have to be case by case judgement.
derdave969Second generation debunking. The Germans were quite aware of radar, they had it themselves. Theirs was extremely heavy and inefficient compared to the British centimetric form that took up little space in an aircraft. Even the early Battle of Britain towers were rarely attacked because they underestimated their value, and the British were determined to keep it that way.
What is it with parents or grandparents mixing vegetables in kids’ desserts? I would never do that. I would just let them eat dessert or vegetables separately. Not together.xxx

Oh lord, do people still make that. Lime jello with carrot shreds was my incentive to leave home. My mother used to make the main meal on my older brother’s schedule, even though I paid the same room and board. One night I came home to find she’d stuck my supper plate in the oven to stay warm, lime jello salad and all. Everything swimming in green goo. That was the point at which I thought “Time to get my own place”.
I remember at some luncheon or other years ago, there were women from all over the United States, and we compared regional recipes of jello—as well as the regional “stigma” or lack thereof of jello. The Southerners said the jello was absolutely verboten at any kind of a “serious” meal, particularly one where company was invited. The Midwesterners claimed that jello was an accepted staple at either dinner or supper (or lunch and dinner). the Westerners put all sorts of unusual things in jello: bananas, nuts, whipped cream, puddings—which horrified both Midwesterners and Southerners. I don’t remember how the New Englanders felt about jello, but it didn’t come over on the Mayflower, so. . . .
Shredded carrots! When they bring you a salad with that garbage in it, tell them you didn’t order salad with carrots and to take it back and pick them out. Most won’t—but some actually do—and it serves the restaurant right for not spelling it out in the menu.

Jell-O with shredded carrots is a big LDS thing. I’ve long wondered when it would make an appearance in this strip.

You’re so lucky to have grandparents – what’s a little shredded carrots in Jello? You’ll long for those days of eating that Jello once Gramma is gone.
