If a grifter is a con man, then how does a nice solid wall make him a con man? What’s it made out of – Styrofoam? If he’s gone to all that trouble to build that great wall, I might decide I like that cave after all and pay that bill.

What does the speaker have in his hands, and what is he doing with it? Is it a Flintstone style ipad?….Sorry, I’ll go away now…..But not before I compliment Wiley on his rendering of the stones in the wall…..Pretty cool….

No, the “grift” is to get someone else to build the wall, then pay for it as well… that is, the persons who get the benefit neither do the work, nor spend any money.

I believe the strip is showing that A) that wall makes nothing about the cave great; only isolated, and B) ain’t gonna be paid for by the folks he said would pay for it (and who said they would NOT pay for it).

The cave is great again, because he is the only one in it, and everyone else is walled out.

I’m getting to where I wish Wiley would start his own Political Comic….because I stay away from that genre. There is a lot I like about this strip, but I see Wiley and I don’t share the same political views. More Danae please.

I will build a wall.It will be the best wall.On my side of the wall will be all the smart people. They will be the good people, the best people. On the other side of the wall will be the criminals. They will be the filthy, the ignorant, the FOX News people. You are going to love the wall. And you will be happy to pay for it.

OK, I’m awake now….The guys on the outside are the ones that built the wall, and that’s the bill in his hands…I get it now…I hate Trump, but I had to laugh…When the president of Mexico said they would never pay for a f**king wall!"….Trump’s reply was “Well now the wall just got ten feet higher!” I never laughed so hard in my life….

I saw George Lopez ( a Hispanic comedian) that said something intelligent about this situation." Go ahead and build your wall, we already got tunnels ! ".We must remember, a lock only keeps an honest man honest.

Why the confusion?Trump talks up the wall.So far, he says he’ll get Mexico to pay for it, which they won’t. That leaves only those of us who live here – as usual – to pay the debt.If it is ever built, which I doubt, it will achieve nothing.Another monument to stupidity, which if we accept it, makes all of us the suckers. That’s the con.

Yep, the wall made the cave great again for the man inside, but he sent the bill to the people outside, who get no benefit from the cave’s resurgent greatness.

Instead of building a wall, they were better off sealing the cave opening, complete with the grifter inside.

And in recent news … a half-mile tunnel discovered between Tijuana and Sand Diego, a highway for illicit drugs, neatly bypassing the Trump-posed Great Wall of Safety … of all those who escaped the Berlin Wall, the vast majority did so by tunnels. Why is it, that nowhere in Nature, do we find other creatures stoopid enough to believe that “walls” represent some significant degree of protection?

Speaking of Grifters… I have been asked by several people, who know I live in Ecuador and are aware of the terrible death and destruction that has been ( and still is ) being wrought by the 7.8 earthquake and the many aftershocks.I those of you who want to assist by cash donations to be very careful of grifters online

There are already numerous false ‘GoFundMe’ sites and scams preying on people who want to help the victims of Ecuador’s earthquake.

One of the best, and safest, ways to donate is to give to Hearts of Gold’s Earthquake Relief Fund. They are an Ecuador based charity, well known and they jumped in to start helping right away. They are sending donations to the victims on a daily. basis.

In addition, if it’s something you want…they are registered as a tax-deductible charity for USA residents who donate. The website link for Hearts of Gold is:http://heartsofgoldfoundation.org/

Even better http://ecuadorlistoysolidario.gestionderiesgos.gob.ec/contribuciones-economicas-en-el-extranjero/ All the information for making a donation directly to the national bank which is making the purchases long term.

It’s literature and a comment on society’s solutions. Think Edgar Allen Poe, not just trumping the play of obnoxious folks deserving of being walled in to their own consequences.

LinguistBeat me to it, but thanks anyway..denis1112GM may be big, but they could move all their operations there (as they ultimately will, if they don’t find something cheaper first) and not make much of a dent in Mexico’s problem, which comes from the US dumping subsidized corn to destroy the agricultural economy. I see who you are by the light of your brightly burning cross.

What the real question about many of today’s comments is: Are you really ignorant or playing ignorant? OK, not sure there is a real difference. Though I’m thinking those that are smarter and ignorant on purpose, may just be worst then those that are just ignorant. I also wonder if, perhaps, some don’t actually read the cartoon before commenting.

For those that need the joke explained. The ‘make it great again man’ built a wall, then sent the community the bill. Then again that’s what corporations like to do. Oh, we have to raise prices to make updates and repairs, because setting aside some of the profits for that would cut into the CEO’s annual bonus. Wish I could pay them less for their products when I need to make repairs and updates on my house.Anyway Wiley, keep the poor who vote themselves down protesting, until they finally realize the only person they really are fooling is themselves.BTW,The Native American Council has offered amnesty to 220 million undocumented whites….and I’m not entirely kidding, do a search. Though it was done with some humor, let’s face it, if anyone should have an issue with illegal immigration that caused harm to their way of life, it would be them.

So what about the man in the cave wanting to improve his security makes him an unsavory character? There are reasons for walls. Walls are meant to keep something in or to keep something out. While xenophobia is not good, personal safety IS good, economic safety IS good. Liberals won’t believe this, but the rest of the world is not entitled to America’s wealth.

Trump is the grifter, a con man. The cave is the U. S. The wall is Trump’s wall and the person holding the bill is a Mexican as are the other people on the outside of the wall, the Mexican side.

There is no idea so good that it cannot subsequently be made ridiculous by exaggeration. It’s almost as if you were suggesting that we need reasonable limits on the actions of government to protect the people from its excesses. I heartily approve, BTW.
