And Christ the baby is born — but they still keep us in suspense. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. I had to stay up late enough to see today’s strip.

What a great strip for today, Merry Christmas. wondered when the baby was going to be delivered…

Thanks to the many who wished my Mom a happy Birthday yesterday (98.)Think I’ll see if I can try to beat her at ping-pong this year…..

Any guesses as to the name/gender of Baby Tracy?

“Christine” — For “Christmas” — or Christina, easily shortened to the alliterative Tina Tracy?

“Chris Tracy” if it’s a boy?

“Kris Tracy” if it’s a girl?

[Bit of a “Charlie’s Angels”/“Crimestoppers” in-joke there.]

Child will only be a wee bit younger than its uncle, Attitude Plenty … which is kinda trippy if you ponder on it.

God bless us, one and all!…………………………………………………………………Junior and Sparkle’s child is apparently the only one unlucky enough (in terms of birthday/Christmas presents) to be born this day at St. Hilarie’s, judging by that deserted waiting room outside the delivery room….

“SHE” was delivered?looks like its up to Joe to keep the Tracy name going.. Junior only seems to make girls. Betcha (if it is girl) they name it HOLLY

The “she” refers to the mother (in this case, Sparkle), tsull2121.

How about “Josh” if it’s a boy?

What? Another baby? We hardly ever saw Sparkle Jr and the baby just born to BO and Gertie.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Merry Christmas to all my Tracy friends.

Well, it’s somewhere around 2000 years or so, give or take. Probably around 6 BC to 4 BC, so maybe 2020 years. Something like that. The point is that it was a long time ago and hasn’t been forgotten.

Merry Christmas!!

It didn’t say “she delivered,” but “she should be delivered”.

The quote is from the popular King James (1611) version of the Bible, the she obviously referring to Mother Mary:

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, …To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.”

The referrant of “delivered,” in this sense, has changed in the past 400 years. I had a Chinese friend who told me she wanted to take a picture which in my language meant that she wanted me to take a picture of her. I have since heard several people using “take a picture” this way. I don’t suppose any of these are native speakers of English, but it seems to be gaining ground, even though it confuses me to no end. These things happen in language.

All this about the word “she” in the quote reminds me of the cartoon of the manger, the star above, and the caption, “It’s a girl!”

jpuzz… if “Its been proven” then how can they NOT know when the actual date is? who “proved it” and HOW did they prove it?

i think its amazing how people are so hellbent on “disproving” someones religious beliefs, yet want everyone to be “PC” so we dont offend anyone else!

It’s CHRISTMAS DAY to me and not Hannukah, Kwanzaa or anything else… and my faith is hat Jesus Christ, the only begotten Sonf of God was born on this day. I dont expect EVERYONE in the world to follow my religion or my beliefs… just dont try and cram YOURS down MY throat!

Respect my religion and my religious beliefs like i respect anyone elses.. dont wish me “HAPPY HOLIDAYS” wish me a “MERRY CHRISTMAS”

Katy and I would like to wish all the Tracy fans who gather here a very merry Christmas..For those of you who don’t share my religious beliefs, I offer this salient quote from Scrooge’s nephew, Fred:.“. . . I am sure that I have always thought of Christmas Time, when it has come round— APART FROM THE VENERATION DUE TO ITS SACRED NAME AND ORIGIN, IF ANYTHING BELONGING TO IT CAN BE APART FROM THAT” [capitalization mine] “—as a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts, freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say God bless it!”.So if you choose not to celebrate it as a commemoration of the birth of Christ, feel free to celebrate it as a secular holiday during which people are moved to treat each other more charitably and to enjoy the company of loved ones..God won’t mind either way, even if you don’t believe in Him..By the way, speaking of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, wasn’t Joe’s rendition absolutely top-flight?
