Oh, Elly. You should have had that conversation BEFORE Fiona came. John, you should have told Elly Fiona was not a visitor but a boarder until she gets a job and moves into a place of her own. That’s weeks or months. Had Elly known, she is likely to say no but that’s what John anticipated and held that information from her. John, you are a louse in this instance. Shame on you.
Lynn’s cartooning skills at work: It’s so clear that Fiona is a repulsive maroon. Look at that giant underbite (and Lynn married a DENTIST! You know what SHE thinks of bad teeth!). The hair over the eyes indicates goonery. The cigarette makes her look casually-trashy… and the cat is scratching its own head with a dumb look on its face. It’s a lot of information in one panel, but you pick up on her malevolence even WITHOUT the dialogue!
Interesting dialogue here- Fiona straight up MOVED THERE? That’s new information, isn’t it? I thought she was just staying with them to help out.
John is as contemptible as Fiona. He is terror-stricken at the idea of having to confront her and I can just hear his whiny tone trying to make excuses. Time to Man-up Jon. Don’t put this on Elly.
If the cat is that big a problem, let the Enjos handle it. They guarantee that the Pattersons will never have to deal with it again. It is like Beaumont just vanished!
A job and an apartment?! John said she was staying for a few days, when did all this develop? I’m sorry but, if I were Elly my answer would be no. Send her to another relative or send her back to where ever she came from. She can NOT stay here and with a new baby, there’s no room. Also, there’s no tolerance for this kinda bullcrap either. She’s got to go!

Smoking around a baby? I don’t think so.

Fiona’s almost like Andy Capp: lazy and won’t admit irresponsibility.

So, Fiona didn’t really come to help out, she is just a freeloader looking for a place to mooch from.

This story line has to end…SOON. Fiona is the most annoying, grating person on earth.

Her cat on the table, scratching… NOPE. John was wrong not to tell Elly about Feona not having a job. She even looks seedy.

He’d better do something about this fast; the longer she stays without any kind of written agreement the more legal obligations will pile on him

Fiona was such a wonderful character to write. I wished I could have written a story about her alone.

Only reason for this lady to be here is if she saved John’s life when he was a child or something to that degree.
