    Yeah. No.

Are they going to forbid freezing off keratoses or warts?

It just cannot be about logic or law, it HAS to be about some kind of crazy ideas that have no connection to what we really do, really are.

Would not freezing embryos then be considered child abuse? Should you not then put them into foster homes instead?

Those clumps of cells are minuscule and can only be seen under a microscope. Are they going to start arresting men who masturbate? Those sperm cells are alive. Every time a woman has her period, she expels an egg, which is alive, and it dies. Are they going to arrest her for that? The law is ridiculous. Hopefully saner people will prevail.

I remember going to a party with my father and coming home with my mother. Was I a person then? It is so much easier to study medicine and science when lawyers are the one practicing these disciplines.

If they don’t get to deduct them as dependents, then they can’t really be children.

The weird thing is these idiots who want children born have done the opposite, now IVF is going to be harder on parents who want kids. Way to go, religious fanatics!!

Statistics — and human suffering — show us that care for the unborn is more easily realized than care for the living in the red states.

A large Alabama hospital has paused in vitro fertilization treatments as health care providers weigh the impact of a state court ruling that frozen embryos are the legal equivalent of children. Can you blame them?

If you live in ALA, do you have to move to another state to use IVF? Would you be charged, if you went to say, Mass. and then returned home?

Down South, you can drive drunk, kill someone and just pay a fine. So… if charged with an IVF offense, just say you were all boozed up, you didn’t mean it. $50 fine.

Medical requirements to be a human being/person: capacity for logical reasoning ability, consciousness, self-awareness.* Thus, scientifically and medically speaking an embryo/fetus cannot even be considered to be a human being/person earlier than the 8th or 9th month of pregnancy since the thalamus is not even fully connected to the cerebral cortex until the 30th week and the receptive fields are not established until the 35th week.

Real life from the hand of Monty Python, The Meaning of Life

“ Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate”

Republicans don’t understand that satire is a cautionary scenario not a game plan.

Does God attach the soul to the leading edge of the sperm cell He selects to join with the egg, or is the soul trailing behind so as to enter the egg instantly following fertilization?

Biologists are unable to answer this question, so I pose it to Christian True Believers™ whom God will reply directly to if they earnestly and sincerely inquire.

It’s hilarious seeing the party of “science” using every argument they can imagine to deny science. Of course, these were the same people that argued Blacks could be enslaved because they weren’t fully developed humans.

    1) Next step from that court: Declaring it a felony for a woman to resist being raped, because that would be “murdering” a “potential” child.

    2) But what they’ve “decided” should be unConstitutional — maybe even according to the Alabama Constitution, — since what they have authored should be the responsibility of the legislature, not the court.

MSNBC played an interview with Mike Pence post Dobbs, and the interviewer asked specifically whether he thought Dobbs might be a problem for IVF. Pence did not concede that at all, and went on strongly support IVF. All of his children were brought forth by IVF.

This is going to get very uncomfortable for Republicans.
