Hilarious moment?

Wine through the nose? That’s gotta hurt!

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will soon want expensive tackle and a tricked-out fishing boat.”

Fresh ocean fish costs my brother-in-law with a boat about $300 per pound.

Teach a man to fish and he spends his life in a boat drinking beer.

That wine has some nose.

fishing is easy, catching…..not so much.

It wouldn’t cost a thing? Maybe, once you factor in the cost of all the the fishing equipment, whatever you need for that…

You should see the cost of live bait. Then there are lures and you need a whole box full in case they aren’t hitting what you are throwing.

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you won’t see him all weekend.

At least the move to the coast is still alive

As my dad informed a very young me once upon a time, “Fishing isn’t catching.”

Without knowing exactly where they’d move to, Arlo would be fishing from shore or a pier and the fish he catches ain’t the ones he and Janis are dining on, they’re deep water species. But the ones he catches can still be tasty.

Keep on dreaming, Arlo. Fish every day? Like at a restaurant? Fishing that doesn’t cost anything? Ah, well, after the initial layout for rod, reel, tackle, license, and lures… when I was little I got a plain bamboo rod with a line and hook and fished for brook trout with nature’s free bait, worms. Ah, that was sweet. Cleaned and cooked (simply fried in butter) the trout myself, too. Delicious.

Um, even if he caught the fish, Janis is going to clean and gut and cook fish to restaurant standards? Not to mention learning to make delicate sauces and suitable sides. Then clean up. Once a month, maybe.

Fishing ain’t as easy as it looks…

A grown man and you don’t know how to fish???

Wow, Janis thinks that is great news…..NOT!

While I like to fish now and then, add up the cost of tackle, license, bait, lures, and all the de rigueur clothing and accessories. The price per pound of fish gets expensive. Add in a boat and it gets silly.

How about the mercury levels in fish? A woman on our TV News thought she’d eat healthy and became really loopy after three weeks of tuna and other fish meats. Her tests showed higher than normal mercury levels. Her doc said fish once a week. No more.

Just bought some frozen Costco Rainbow trout. Farm raised. 23 dollars for 6 large fillets.

Arlo is very talented…. just not yet at fishing.

Well played, Arlo. Just get her down to the coast and lose the car keys.

A boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into.

Great- and Janis will start a vineyard to save on wine.

Clearly, Arlo has not looked at the price of modern fishing gear.
