    Ahh, inflation 1977 style.

First, Woodstock asks for a buck to do the job, but within seconds the fee has tripled by inflation.

“I don’t care how much it costs! Just bring him back!”

    “Three bucks now lady!”

She’ll care when the bill comes in. Now I don’t know how expensive s beagle copter is, but the wear and tear on Snoopy’s ears must be horrific. Now, as a former helicopter flight medic, I can tell you that real (people, not beagle) helicopters are horribly expensive to fly and maintain. Every nut, bolt, and rivet is specially made for the stress caused by being part of an aircraft that wants to self- destruct and has to be certified for that use. I don’t remember the numbers but I do recall being shocked the first time I heard how much something simple, like a quart of oil, cost, and that was back in the 80s.

Beagle copter is extremely expensive to run and operate. At least two cans of dog food(opened) and a sack of birdseed for the pilot’s allotment.

Not sure what to call these, but have always I kind of like the strips where a main character assumes a completely different role/identity and the others just go along. Maybe the first was Snoopy as a WW1 flying ace and then a lawyer? I’m never sure if the Peanuts gang is just going along with the bit, or they really believe. It doesn’t matter, as it is just a great use of whimsy either way.

Is this a use of flashback (which I think is unusual in Peanuts)? Linus saw the “helicopter” on Saturday (off-panel), but today Sally is hiring it to be sent.

Six-year-olds don’t know about negotiating a contract. Sally should have first agreed on a price first, then the should’ve have signed a contract.
