1990s snow? Even my 97 year old MIL would consult a YouTube video on her iPhone.

The only snow around here is on the Alps and Pyrenees ski runs… the best in the world… and for some reason they object to having snowmen on their black pistes…

Rose’s instructions must be good. Why else would she have a sky full of check marks?

If they are all working on the same snowman, teamwork is important so Rose is correct. If she is instructing them all on how to build their own snowmen, she is missing the importance of individual creativity.

Snow must be somewhat wet, not too powdery for rolling. The spherical shape must be maintained, and the end result not show handmarks. The expression and coal eyes should be visible from at least 500 feet (or more). The carrot used for the nose should be at least 6 inches in length, without blemish; curving acceptable. Sticks used for arms should be at least 1/4 inch in diameter and have “antlered” branches which resemble hands/fingers. Any hats used should be of antique vintage on not currently worn by anyone. (None of the above applies to Wallace and crew, or Calvin!)

I grew up in Phoenix, Ariz. We made tumbleweed men. They were a bit scratchy.

Without a proper script they could end up with a Snow-Demon epidemic. Just ask Calvin and Hobbes.

It probably took Rose hours to put together those instructions. Sitting quietly, wrapped in thought, planning the best possible snowman for her and her friends.

Right here is the moment that Rose’s future hangs on, how well her friends react to all her work and planning. Do they get into it? Are they supportive? Do they make it fun for themselves and Rose?

If yes, Rose ends up leading the first mission to Mars.

If no, Rose ends up chief of the mad scientists, ready to bring down doom with an army of animated snowgoons!

If it’s something traditional, of course you have to do it “right,” in the traditional way. It being something already established, you can save a lot of time by not reinventing it via trial and error + guesswork. When you have more time, you can build more—and more elaborate—snow sculptures.
