Couple weeks ago I was heading into town right after a bit of rain. As I looked into a turn I see a BMW coming the other way is in a skid. I stop and watch it all develop. By the time he comes to a rest (about 20 feet in front of me) he’s done a 270 and barely kept it on the pavement (really he’s mostly on the shoulder of my side of the road). Interesting part is a couple years ago the state paved all the sharper curves on that road with special high traction asphalt to reduce accidents. I’d guess he came into the turn a little hot.
I will take a turn as fast as the conditions allow safely. It’s called conservation of momentum. I cannot see wearing away expensive brake pads to slow down and burn expensive gasoline to accelerate out of the turn.
HOWEVER, I take my foot off the accelerator well before the turn to coast down to a safe speed. I will sometimes apply the accelerator at the end of the turn as the radius to curvature decreases.
My college Physics professor, a guy by the name of Newton, taught me this.
Ironically, I still get better mileage out of my tires than average.
I still see a lot of these guys on these electric mono-wheels that did not get the word about the recall to correct a seriously dangerous fault in the balance control system.
Been there done that, but in my case it was a icy street and I made a couple of 360s. Ended up on some trolley tracks in the middle of the street, fortunately it was late at night.
If you can keep the wheels spinning at a rate consistent with the speed, and keep them aligned with the direction of travel you will have traction which is why locking your brakes on icy surfaces causes you to skid.
I’ve learned to do this very well. If I can’t stop, at least I can pick what I want to hit. One time it was the hole between two cars doing 360s.

One of the advantages of EV’s is that roll overs are far less likely due the the weight of the battery being at the base of the vehicle.

I’d agree. Look at all the damage you did to the road. You’re in big trouble the bucko.

Reminiscent of crossing oblique RR tracks across our bikeway. My partner broke an axel.

I did that on a BMW motorcycle once in the mountains of Arizona.
