That works, quite well, although anymore I tend to think of the®eprobates as possessing the vigorous intellect, the clear-eyed vision, and the charismatic leadership skills of chickens with their heads cut off.
Putting a bill on the floor that passed because Democrats voted for it got McCarthy fired. He went on TV p!ssing and whining about how the budget impasse was the fault of the Democrats. Expecting them to put up with being p00ped on that way is a bit much.
If McCarthy had honestly tried to work across the aisle he’d still be speaker. “Own the libs, all or nothing” is a stupid strategy. As for the crazy caucus? You can’t herd cats!
I don’t follow politics well enough to truly understand why McCarthy was voted out. It was the Democrats plus a very small number of Republicans that voted him out. What I’m worried about is having a far-right Republican speaker, which is exactly what that small group of Republicans want. How does that benefit the Democrats? I was no fan of McCarthy, but he could have been worse. At least he did reach out across the aisle to some extent.
According to CNN.com, there’s currently a tussle going on among House Republicans to succeed Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. Really? Isn’t that like a bunch of GIs all arguing among each other about who’s going to go on the night raid carrying the bright light and wearing the white uniform that has “Shoot Me First” emblazoned on it?
Coming from the party that thinks government is the “problem” and we are supposed to think this was an accident? McCarthy stalled their plan for a shut down, so this was plan B all along.
There’s no requirement that the Speaker be an actual member of the House. It could be any citizen, elected or not. And, given the corrosively partisan, pugnacious nature of all the current prospects for the job, maybe a neutral honest broker is just what the nation needs. I hereby nominate a couple of hard-headed, results-oriented, reality-based pragmatists — who have the added advantage of being willing and able to throw in a little pointed humor from time to time — Judy Sheindlin or Bill Maher.
That sounds exactly what those whiney a$$ morons would say. The patients are controlling the asylum. Shame on all those who elected the spoiled, tantrum=throwing toddlers to offices of responsibility
Curiosity Corner: The House investigation into impeaching Joe Biden was commenced based not on an authorization of a vote of the full House but rather on the personal say-so of then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Now that he’s no longer speaker, does the inquiry go away, or does it have an independent life of its own?
Utterly amazing the modus operandi of McCarthy is to expect the democratic representatives to be the grownups in the room and rescue the legislative body at each republican made crisis.

If you thought that 15-round cluster-F that installed McCarthy as Speaker was hilariously stupid, just wait for season 2.
