I left that platform (not that I was actually using it except to lurk) when he bought it. And that choice just looks smarter and smarter (in a small way) the more time that passes.
I am still on Xitter (or whatever it’s being called) mainly out of curiosity. While it’s true that Musk has gone out of his way to make it more accessible to both bots and the right-wing crowd, there are still a lot of progressive voices there that haven’t yet been driven off or silenced.
I don’t get the whole “X” thing. Nobody I know calls it that and the “X, Formerly Known as Twitter” everywhere in print seems a bit tedious. That’s why nobody ever called Prince “The Artist” even though it was a jab at the predatory contracts young musical artists are coerced into signing was a good reason. Elon X just needs to stop being so full of himself.
CBC refers to them as X formally known as Twitter Seem to remember a singer doing that and eventually going back to the old name. But Prince wasn’t a filthy rich psychopath
I joined Twitter right before Elon took over. I like to follow Court TV and see what others think about the trials. I follow NASA, On Patrol Live, and a few individuals who seem to be nice, decent people who often make me laugh. However, if Elon starts charging everyone a fee, I’m gone. To paraphrase an old song, “Got along without ya before I joined ya, gonna get along without ya now.”
IIRC He tried the fee thing when he first took over X, when it was Twitter, and it backfired. Now he is going to try it again? Isn’t there a saying about trying the same thing over and expecting a different result as being insane?

He’s killing that company slowly, so he can use the losses to write off any other taxes he might owe in more than one year.

I never saw the appeal of social media. It can become the equivalent of a lobotomy.

Let me wrecks it. It was a bane on humanity anyway.

I’ve left. It worked for a while but the far right has ruined it. There’s a lesson…

Gotta give muskie credit, when he sets his mind to wreckin’ somethin’, he goes all the way.
Maybe he’d be interested in the NRA?

two possibilities
1)Musk is deliberately and systemically destroying the platform in retaliation for being forced to follow through on his bluff about buying it.
2)he is far far stupider than even his harshest critics imagined.
Me, I’m going with option 1

Left the platform quite awhile back. Not sorry.

Why is Musx only proposing a fee? Why is he floating a trial balloon?
Isn’t he a genius? Shouldn’t such a genius be able to figure out how successful charging a fee would be?
Wouldn’t a genius just charge the fee or just discard the idea?
