Budweiser did apparently take a hit from that ad. Which surprised the heck out of me. But I actually know not one single person who drinks Bud, Light or otherwise. Not that I know many beer drinkers. The ones I do know tend toward regional or smaller brewers with big IBU numbes… and sneer (gently) at me for choosing a hefeweisen or a very mild Mexican beer such as Negra Modelo.
I’ve been a Bud Light customer for years and don’t see a need to change. Some people are so upset because Budweiser gave ONE can to a transperson. Who cares? If it makes them do stupid things like shooting a case of beer with a high powered weapon, then maybe they shouldn’t be drinking adult beverages at all.
Let’s also remember that the new Marketing Director for BL said in an interview that “We had this hangover, I mean Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out of touch humor”. I see that they are back to their core, advertising during NFL games etc, but you can’t put the genie back in the bottle, I’m afraid.
Bud Light sales had been dropping for a long time, they just continued on the same trajectory and the idiots claimed it was all them. I like beer, I bought Bud Light recently and I still don’t like it.
This is all so weird to me. I’ll have one or two glasses of wine in a year, sometimes none at all. My family only had a couple of bottles of something for when neighbors visited at the holidays. We have a Delegate pin from the 1912 Prohibition National Convention in Atlantic City, so some member of my family actually attended ;-)
I’ve been sober for years now, but when I was drinking I preferred imports (like Heiniken) or small brews (like Sam Adams) to stuff like Budweiser or Bud Light. I went to a game at Nationals Stadium last month, and I saw quite a few people at the park with bottles of Bud Light. So, obviously, some are still buying it. Just not me.
Here’s a silly anecdote: Way back in time, we bachelors were Hank Jr fans, and his nickname was Bocephus. One of my pals also only drank Budweiser, regular or light, didn’t matter. So when he’d break out a Bud, we’d yell “Budcephus!!”
Budweiser is one of those beers you drink in your 20’s. Like Keystone, Busch, and such, whether light or regular. When you are value drinking, and likely a bit more excessively. Eventually, you graduate to drinking less and better beers. Well, some of us do, anyway. ;)
In my 20’s and 30’s, I liked beer a lot. Now I live in a brewing Mecca, (Bend, OR) and I don’t like beer that much. I guess that could be a good thing or a bad thing.
It’s too bad people but into other’s sexual preferences when they’d be much better off exploring their own. Nosiness and condemning those who are different is seldom helpful.
A group project I was on in grad school decide to study the beer industry (this was 6 years ago.) And InBev, the group that owns Anheuser-Busch, during our project, bought SABMiller, becoming the largest world’s largest brewery, and they were even then very much aware of the craft brews out there and how the younger generation doesn’t like the mass-marketed beers. I for one drink Blue Moon (which they own), when it is the only decent beer at a restaurant, so they are making attempts (though will have an assortment of others at home). And if memory serves their canned “recipe drinks” like Margarita-in-a-can, and let’s not forget seltzers and hard cider, are doing well. Tastes keep changing, that’s for sure. Oh, and marijuana being available more and more has to be factored in to the slow decline of mass market beer sales.

I remember when light beer started to become popular. We used to refer to it as the beer for people who just like to pee a lot.

I hadn’t bought beer in ages, but I bought a six pack of Bud Light to protest the protesters. ;-D I’m thinking seriously about getting another one.

EVERYTHING you do or say that isn’t 100% in agreement with them drives bigots crazy.

It might have some weight as an incentive, but I don’t think it is enough reason for anyone to drink a bud light.

Or you could drink literally any other alcohol drink

This whole foofraw doesn’t lure me away from my support for craft brewers, especially those located in my area.

Drink Bud Light…..the Clydesdale horses that produce it are losing their jobs!

Beer is for wimps. Kentucky bourbon is king.

80 proof brandy, straight. I drink, I don’t play at it.

Even before this dust up Bud Light was a not good beer. In fact Bud in general is not good beer.

Odd, just came back from Florida and saw Bud Light advertisements all over the place. And plenty of people drinking it…

As nice as that sentiment is, the price of drinking a bad beer is just too high.
Can I drink a nice big microbrew belgian barley wine, instead? I’m sure it’s gay, just ask it!

If I liked any Anheuser-Busch products, I’d be flaunting those empty cans/cases.

Don’t drink lite beers, period. Living here in Hawaii I prefer local brands. Kona Brewery mainly, although Big Island has some pretty decent choices.

I can’t think of any other reason to drink it, no flavor to speak of, and while that one is tempting I think I’ll pass.
