I was 16 in ’63 and started at Jewel. Minimum wage in IL was $1.25 but Jewel was union so starting was $1.60.
Coffee in general is really high! Anywhere from $2 to $4 at the places we go for breakfast. I remember when it was a dime…and then a quarter! Of course I was making a $1.60/hr at my part time union job at the grocery store. Showing my age???
