And so it is, the self-described “free speech absolutist” now wants to sue the Anti-Defamation League, one of the premier anti-hate organizations in the world, because…

a) the ADL had the nerve to honestly and accurately report hate speech content that had previously not been permitted, that is now overflowing the sewers of the social media platform Elon Musk transformed from a peaceful songbird to an X-rated (for hate-speech content) cesspool, and…

b) Elon Musk needed a scapegoat to blame for the value of his “songbird turned cesspool” plummeting to a fraction of its former worth (Musk himself estimated it had lost 90% of its value). Like the ego-inflated orange hot-air gasbag — the balloon buffoon — whose cult worshiper Musk enables, Musk also cannot take responsibility for the fact that, for some reason, advertisers don’t want their products associated with hate groups such as the KKK and other hate groups targeting Jews, minorities, LGBTQIA+ people, etc.

Oh well, truth is an absolute defense against defamation, and the ADL may actually enjoy forcing Elon Musk to disclose in “discovery” all the dirty little secrets he has been trying so hard to conceal.

Elon Musk’s X sues over having to post moderation policies

Elon Musk’s X Corp.on Friday sued the state of California over a law requiring social media companies to publicly post their policies regarding hate speech, disinformation, harassment and extremism.The parent company of X, formerly known as Twitter, argued in a federal suit that the law referred to as AB 587 violates its free speech rights.

Right wingers want their hate speech to be legalized.

I think Jones’s toon, well done BTW, makes a good point. Should so called “hate” groups be allowed a platform. Why yes, because in the old days of print, these groups would produce books and pamphlets to spread their information and they were not being legally stopped, so why do it today. They are not confined to social electronic media only to spread their information, there’s still print and audio broadcasts yet, and they are protected by free speech like everyone else. These groups are going to spread their word no matter what.

I like the addition of MTG. Should’ve included Gymbag Jordan on the legal team though as he tried to pass the Bar Exam which would make him the most qualified.

With almost no exceptions, public communication is facilitated by private and/or independent entities.

They can publish or reject whatever they want to.

Hate speech, misinformation, bald faced lies, foreign & domestic propaganda – it’s all ‘allowed’ here [see 1st Amendment] – the question is not one of government censorship or whataboutisms, but one of what our society will personally tolerate/enable.

Would IndyW let Nazis rant on a social media platform that he owned? Probably not. Most people don’t want a world further polluted by garbage.

It’s up to each one of us, including Musk & Trump, to turn away from the filth – voluntarily. Musk is showing us who he really is. I believe him.

Musk still hasn’t figured out, it’s not defamation if it’s true.

Clay puts out brilliant work like this on a daily basis and for other outlets as well as a YouTube channel every day. Hard work AND to the point AND funny. Not too many of us can make that claim. GREAT STUFF!!

NPR has an article entitled: Appeals court slaps Biden administration for contact with social media companies – so I read the article.

“The panel of judges, all GOP nominees, say that the administration’s efforts to flag what it considered to be false and harmful content about COVID, the 2020 election and other topics that violated the social media companies’ policies likely amount to a violation of the First Amendment.”

Uh huh.

I should have not bothered to read past: “The panel of judges, all GOP nominees . . .”

That’s all there is. That’s all they’ve got.
