Closer to five decades here and still counting, and something is creeping.

Time to dust off that machete!

Arlo brings up the topic to move each time they visit.

How much are they actually anchored to the house when their kids and his boat are near the gulf?

Arlo likes the idea of things, but then senses work ahead and stops action.

Janis sees possibility, knows how to plan it out and make it happen, from movers to utilities to new doctors. She will do all the project management, and would hire out the heavy lifting.

It’s like the boat. Arlo wanted one for years. Gus wanted to give one away. Gene did all the repairs and upgrades and does the maintenance. Arlo still needed to say no a dozen times first.

It would also be a lot of work to leave one spouse in a house with decades of accumulated things, and hours away from family.

Or to require the kids to leave their life in order to take care of parents should that need arise.

Just one word: kudzu. Move while you can.

I’m in a similar situation. I can’t figure out where the next stage of my life should be.

Since I live in a place most people can only dream of, it’s going to be very hard when I can’t take care of my land and have to find an acre or two to build another house on. Can’t beat living in a national forest with 16 acres of land and nearest neighbor a mile away from you. I love my Home!!!

A tad over 40 years in the same house for us.

And the stuff you manage to acquire! I’ve got to crawl back up in the attic and get that stuff down before I get too old to do it!

Its a done deal. They’re moving.

I like way Gus talks. Like a character from a black-and-white movie on TCM.

Too much stuff to move.

Arlo is getting creepy…..

Carol & I’ve been married 57 years and have moved 13 times in that time. We learned a helpful mantra in that regard: "3 moves = 1 fire.‘’ frequent moves do help reduce the ’stuff’ that accumulates in the house.

We are in our 8th house after living in three states over time. Finally got it right.

It’s a snowbird thing.

I wonder if part of Arlo & Janis’ hesitation to move has to do with hurricanes. They seem to live far enough upstate that it’s not the big issue that it would be if they lived on the coast. Then again, whichever Gulf Coast state they live in will almost certainly have much worse humidity upstate than on the coast. As for me, I hate humidity so for me, that would be a big factor in where I’d choose to live if I were to relocate.

Do it Arlo, DO IT!!!
