Never mind the U.S. The Repugs want to crash the global economy, just like they did in 1929.

Never in the past has this harsh prediction come true. I recall at least 6 shutdowns with trivial outcomes and a paid vacation for everyone, but workers paid for actual hours worked. Why should it be any different this time unless neither side flinches? It seems to me in the past when the parties were reversed Mike still faulted the GOP.

We we ever have a Congress that works for the mutual [win-win] benefit of all or will we stick [because change is too hard] with our dysfunction winner-take-all system where the winner represents only an all-too-often extremist minority?

The Republican Party is well on the path to self-immolation. The only remaining question is, will they burn the whole country down in the process?

It is interesting to note that the post-pandemic inflation surge was global, but the MAGA GOP claims it was all due to $1200 checks Biden sent out in April 2021.

I don’t know anybody that thinks that. Drastic cutbacks in domestic oil production and reckless liberal spending are among the main reasons for inflation other than the now finished pandemic that I hear.

When Bush took office, the national debt was $5T. It doubled under him. It doubled under Obama. Up 40% under Trump. Continuing up under Biden. Blame the swamp not any one person.

According to Steve Bannon, the best thing that could happen to America is that we blow up the entire system and rebuild it from scratch. No, that’s not hyperbole, that’s his actual attitude and apparently sincere belief. Of course, he’s convinced that the rebuilding will be according to his own blueprints, not somebody else’s, which shows just how completely insane he is. Unfortunately, due to his having early access to the Big Orange Megaphone, he’s apparently convinced a lot of the other Qheads that that’s the way to go.

This just in from the ACLU:

This morning – in a win for free expression on the internet – the Supreme Court unanimously protected our right to free speech on online platforms in two key rulings.

Here’s what to know about both:

→ In Twitter v. Taamneh: The Court ruled that when companies like Twitter, Google, and Facebook simply provide a platform that’s open to anyone for speech purposes, that isn’t enough to “aid and abet” an act of terrorism under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

→ In Gonzalez v. Google: SCOTUS sent the case back to the court of appeals, leaving in place the vital protections for free speech afforded by Section 230. Under Section 230, platforms generally won’t be held liable for user-posted content, removing incentives to limit what we say online.

I’ve been wondering for quite some time why Kremlin Kevin did such an about face on Traitor Trump. Was it blackmail or was it bribery? (For Lindsay Graham we know it was blackmail, although, to be fair, Traitor Trump’s second favorite person in his miserable worthless life was Roy Cohn, so we know he doesn’t hate all the gay people.)

I think this is the year the 14th Amendment puts an end to the debt ceiling nonsense. The Repubs are the only ones that weaponize it, and would harm American’s in a stupid attempt to make the Democratic Party take the blame for the harm the Repubs would be actually be responsible for. Of course, the Repub’s demands would be equally harmful.

The stakes became higher, amid the other titanic grift of the Drumpf years, when USG just couldn’t ship out $ fast enough, national debt rising more or less 30% ?
