Cribbing from my comment almost seven years ago, “The cases of The Atom Bum (not “bomb” as today’s strip reads), Anyface, and the Chippendale Chair were all featured in the volume Fearless Fosdick [vol. 1] published by Denis Kitchen.”

Also, this seems (style-wise) more like Tracy in Fosdick-land, rather than the other way around.

The well, regarding story lines on Dick Tracy done run dry.

I guess prominent chins are a requirement for extraordinary crime fighters?!

Today’s strip reminds me of an adage I uttered years ago: Some people who think have an open mind simply have a hole in the head.

I don’t remember when this first ran, but I notice that the credit box mentions both Fearless Fosdick and Evil Eye Fleagle. So I assume Fleagle will also take part in the story.

They should go the whole way and have Joe Btfsplk show up and ruin everything Tracy tries to do.

For me this is a trip down memory lane. I used to read Lil Abner every day when I was a kid, and enjoyed the occasional arc featuring “Lil Abner’s Ideal”.

In order to relieve the boredom of a silly rerun I’ve decided to repost some ancient posts from some of our most beloved contributors to see how relevant they are towards today’s Dick Tracy.

Someone on Team Tracy must have been following the never-ending Lil’ Abner loop; the Chippendale Chair Caper is the only Fosdick story they have. (The strip ran for 43 years, and GC only shows the same handful of stories over and over and over…)

I’m going to leave the story alone on this one. The colorist is different than the previous one from 2016, so I’ll just compare the two. Quick link:

Since yesterday’s Sunday strip was colored by Team Tracy in 2016, the colors were the same. Today, we get to see an alternate rendering from 7 years ago. Slightly darker except for the paler skin tones. Interesting reversal of dark and light. Also of note are FF’s socks. They are colored a nice bright red here to match his tie where they were white in 2016.

Also, two commas were added. The first is the Oxford comma: “…Angeltop, and Abner…” I prefer the Oxford comma, so that’s a good move. The second one is puzzling: “…cretinous, Caliph…” I’m no expert, but does a comma belong at the end of a list of adjectives that precedes the noun they are modifying? Are there any grammar experts in here who can improve my education – or validate it?

So….I got a statement from blue cross blue shield the other day that said the anasteiologist from February finally got paid…he charged $1200 to stick a needle in my hand..bcbs paid $400+ leaving me with a bill of $712 I have to pay…I called the place and told them I dont have $712 in my bank account to pay and then I set up a 6 month payment plan of $118 a month

Mr. Curtis continues to insult the intelligence of anyone who has been a Tracy fan for over 10 years. It’s really time for him to go.

Does Fearless Fosdick have a hole in his head to go along with the one in his hat? Or does he just wear the hat high on his head?

Wish GoComics had more Li’l Abner strips. They seem to have just a few storylines, one of which centers on Fosdick.

Tracy is dreaming? More like having a nightmare. Fearless Fosdick was Al Capp’s satire of Dick Tracy. & Chester Gould was reported to not find the Fosdick parody particulary funny. (Full disclosure: While I can see Gould’s point, I disagree, I did like the spoofs.) But, it looks more like Tribune Content Agency is trying to milk some of its properties that are no longer published, like Li’l Abner & Little Orphan Annie.

Tracy dreams on about partnering up with the World’s Greatest Detective in the Li’l Abner Universe, Fearless Fosdick, as that reckless hero plugs fleeing felonious [Denis] Kitchen in classic perforation fashion while the two gumshoes trade clearly C-class compliments and comments. Maybe the pursuing uniformed cop has put that hole in Fosdick’s hat?

Let us dream on also!
