Someone (he who wrote the check) ended the amount with a period.

Right, Ed. You mailed the check just a few minutes ago, and in that time it reached the post office, was processed, a worker opened it (without being seen by a security camera) and changed the amount on your check for no sane reason before sending it instantly to Bean’s End, where the order was processed even more quickly. In a world where everything is possible because nothing makes sense, that’s probably an everyday occurence.

So, he’s a master at ordering online but somehow uses cheques to pay?

Actually I’ve heard of checks being stolen, and, altered. But not, of course, altered and sent on to their original destination.

Years ago, when I still sent checks, I received my credit card statement. The balance was around $330, with a $30 minimum payment. I wrote $30 in the amount sent box, and stuck it in the pile. When the time came to mail it, I had some extra money, so I wrote the check for the full amount. I checked my account online, and they only credited me for $30! I called them and told them what the check had been made out for, and she said, “It will only clear for what we put it through as.” I’m like “How can you decide what the check I sent you is worth?” Sure enough, it cleared for just $30. Apparently it was electronic, so no one ever looked at the check.

I thought he ordered online. If he ordered online, how could his payment have been processed through the Post Office?

Add “online shopping” to the list of things this strip doesn’t understand at all. (It’s number 2358 on the list.)
