There are many highly educated people, who look down on trades people, who don’t have the intelligence to change the flapper in a toilet.

Not only are they idiots, they have an attitude. It’s almost as if they think it’s a badge of honor.

I have two degrees. The one from college is worthless – all theory and ivory tower fantasy. The other “degree” came from the the university of hard knocks.

I used to work at a university in the mid-west. The stories I could tell that relate to exactly that concept.

My mom was an intelligent person with a 6th grade education.

On the other hand, I know of a lot of well-educated idiots.

There is a difference between book sense and common sense. I am blessed to have a modicum of both, though I still have to learn some things the hard way…

“I spent three days a week for 10 years educating myself in the public library, and it’s better than college. People should educate themselves – you can get a complete education for no money. At the end of 10 years, I had read every book in the library and I’d written a thousand stories.”Ray Bradbury

“Everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects.” Will Rogers

“To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society.” Theodore Roosevelt

“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” John Dewey

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” Aristotle

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” Albert Einstein

The most influential of all educational factors is the conversation in a child’s home.” William Temple

I have found the world to be full of educated idiots. In fact, I’ve also found that if one truly wants to degrade a field, let it fall into the hands of its own self-styled and degreed ‘experts’.

Something to think about- having a PhD means you know a lot in your particular field. It doesn’t mean you know everything and it doesn’t mean you are right. I know doctorates in Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religious and anthropogenic studies.

    Do you think they agree?
