I did die on the operating table and scared not only my husband, but also my daughters; near death, as you know, changes us forever.

I also have always rinsed and encouraged others to do the same … Now it is a requirement when the new system was put in place. The sick thing is some folks refuse to comply. One dirty container can contaminate the whole load! Growl!!

I used to love filing in Colorado – then 5% flat tax. Colorado stated with Fed AGI, allowed for a few adjustments. but mostly one started with AGI – no need for complicated calculations, repeat of everything on Fed return and had a very small tax table with income and resulting 5% calculation; if income was over, a simple multiplication that took 5 seconds and that is what was fair share. Then it was simple to see if one paid more or owed. 10 Minutes to do return by hand! The irony is Colorado had better roads, education, etc. In an ideal world, everyone would pay their fair share! I find it “amusing” that some of the powerhouses or wealthiest people pay less taxes than their employees, some of whom actually qualify for food stamps!! Okay, I’m off my soapbox!

My retirement and SS benefit have not changed as far as net amount; however, the COLA showed up in this year’s SS total benefit; between that and higher interest paid on interest bearing bank accounts along with higher dividends on stocks is what zapped me. We seniors are good targets to zap – easier than going for the wealthy can keep their $$$. OH, my … my cynicism is showing!

My purchases were large necessities that I would have happily avoided – components to keep the HVAC running is critical here and two working toilets also critical. (One toilet was over 25 years old and the other one was original to house so its age was 78.)

I’m not happy about the check I get to write later to the IRS. My estimate is far less than the “experts” . It’s a big day – extension done and it marks the first time I’ve had to pay taxes to the feds in my 21st year of retirement.

Yes – there are some IRS auditors who will make your CPA look careless!

I received a defective CD from TurboTax and was unable to use it; that put me online to download fed and state software. All the new security measures made it slower than normal, but can now get extension done! And …

The splint is off; however, I will still have to live as if it is on plus watch for swelling or pain and if that comes up, I need to get hold of my doctor immediately; the other thing is when I leave my house, I will have to have shoes on my feet; no more flip-flops outside!
