In a society that propagates hate and division, in a part of the country that allows virtually unlimited access to guns, that someone decided to shoot up a school? There have been 131 mass shootings in the US so far this year. 59 children have died in those shootings. 344 teenagers have died in those shootings. Why? Because it’s the guns. It’s always been about the guns and people like you choose to do NOTHING.

Why? If you’re even asking that question, your clueless, heartless or both. The answer is right in front of you.

Here’s the sensible thing to say about this tragedy:

Some say the common thread are guns and we should outlaw guns. Especially the ones that look like military guns, but are not.

That view falls apart when they use a bomb or a knife or a vehicle. Or an airplane.

The true common thread is mental health. All these murderers are insane. There’s no acceptable norm that excuses the mass killing of innocents.

But that issue is hard to address. Individual rights. Privacy laws. Lawsuits. So complex.

Easy to go with guns as the issue.

In every country there is mental illness. In just about every country there are violent video games and movies. Yet the USA is the country with the most mass shootings. I wonder what the difference is here in the USA. Hmmmmm, let me think, it may come to me. Nope, I gots nothing.

I thought it was odd when the first reports said: “A woman shot up the the Covenant School.” Then they said: "It was a “trans” woman; And: “It wasn’t random, it was a TARGETED attack.” So, the shooter was doubly deranged. Christians believe the Bible which says: “God made Adam, then he made Eve.” [Two genders.] So, “trans” people hate Christians. I’m done with feeling sorry for delusional people: so many “trans” people kill themselves when they realize the hormones and “transition surgery” has merely sterilized them, and they AREN’T really what they “believed” they were. If they were ADULTS when they had the sterilizing surgery, they had a right to do this to themselves, and CHOSE to do so!

To be crystal clear: Christians believe you are what you were BORN as, and you can’t change that by “believing” otherwise. Genetically, a man can take lots of estrogen and get “feminizing” surgery and LOOK somewhat like a woman, but isn’t a woman! In sports, trans “women” [who were mediocre competing against other men] now “win” “competitions” competing against REAL women. This is NOT fair, and cheats real women!

Why? Because parents today don’t teach their young to respect life and show them the difference between right and wrong. They have no respect for themselves, much less anyone else . They have no responsibilities. Everything is given to them for nothing. My parents were strict, and we got our butts busted when we did wrong. We learned. The idea of a “time out” for punishment is ridiculous. It’s a mind game. No wonder they are so messed up. Parents have failed, and are still failing, to teach their kids the difference between right and wrong. Granted, there are some parents who do a fantastic job. They are very few and far between. Guns don’t shoot by themselves. Time to put the blame where it belongs…….the parents that raised these deviants.

    Why?

A problem can’t be solved if the cause is misidentified. The AR15 is not an assault rifle. An assault rifle, by definition, must be fully automatic. The AR15 is semi-automatic, just as are many other hunting rifles. The AR15 looks like an assault rifle. Calling it what it is not solves nothing. The Law banning automatic weapons came in 1933 and is still in force today. In my state, and I think most states, 3 rounds are the maximum allowed loaded in a weapon while hunting. High capacity magazines are only for killing human beings. Banning and making possession illegal of high capacity magazines should be done immediately, it is a no-brainer. This would help, as would background checks and age minimums. But these are not solutions.

But neither the firearm nor it’s capabilities are the cause of the problem. People are the cause of the problem. Anger, and all that comes from it, are the cause. Hatred, jealousy, racism/bigotry, rejection, all manners of human ugliness that predate biblical accounts to human beginnings. All are fueled by ignorance. The answer is how to educate WE, the People to preserve our rights and not kill each other, and defeat ignorance. It will take someone smarter than me to come up with a way to educate the ignorant

‘This’ shooting does not change anything because no shooting does.

    .

Every mass shooting is celebrated by the gun violence advocates.

Every mass shooting reinforces their contention(s) that you need to buy guns to protect yourself — more and more guns make YOU safer, thus, collectively, more guns make everybody safer.

Naturally, some of Those People are also going to get guns, so YOU better make sure YOU are more heavily armed than they are.

    @Radish the old word monger

    Ignore my lovely wife’s avatar.

Being possibly older than you are, I am aware that crazy people in China have run amok, killing school children, armed with nothing more than a kitchen knife. Guns are not needed to kill kids. It only takes people who have been messed up by their society, like the people who preach that gender is just a state of mind rather than a biological fact, and who go crazy over the contradictions between nature and the Religion of Woke.

What is it all about? Keeping down the number of ‘peasants’, as promoted by the Reverend Malthus a couple of centuries ago (hence ‘the pill’ is a Malthusian drug). If you understand what is going on and still promote it, then you are vicious. If you do not understand, learn more biology and anthropology, and physics, logic and math if you are able. If you cannot see or understand how it works, at least stop stirring the pot.

The Religion of Woke is just as calculatingly vicious as every other totalitarian approach to ‘the masses’, with its followers often ignorant of what they are really doing.

We have no guns, nor any wish to sacrifice any children, including our grandchildren, and are not even in the top 50% income bracket. We do have multiple university degrees, and I voluntarily joined the U.S. military back in the Vietnam era when others were headed to Canada. We live in a mixed-race neighborhood, and do not promote racist, genocidal gods, despite having been circumcised at birth. We do our own thinking.

Disagreeing with you does not make us vicious or ignorant or RWNJ’s. It just means our analysis leads us to disagree.

Why? Because of the destruction of civil values and morality by Marxist left wing Democrats. It’s not guns, those are only a means to an end. The AR-15 has been around since 1959. It is used in less than 3% of mass shootings. Hand guns are the weapon of choice in most shootings.

So all you lefty gun grabbers, why are you so opposed to the most popular hunting gun which is minimally responsible for gun deaths? Why?

Oh, because it LOOKS like a mean, nasty combat weapon. And, like past Marxist, communist, fascist, otherwise totalitarian regimes that the left wing Democrats are so enamored with, they want to remove self defense weapons from the public so that they can further restrict human rights and do away with the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. You can’t deny this. Every day the left wingers in these comment sections post of how they would like to see freedoms done away with, just so long as it doesn’t affect them. Rules for thee and not for me.

@Sovan: “We’ve been trying to tell you to get these people help and not confirm their delusions. Blame the shooter, not the tool.”

If someone set off a thermonuclear bomb in New York City, killing a million people, would you claim that the bomber would have killed a million even without the bomb? Maybe with their bare hands?

Nope. It’s the bomb that would have killed them, with the person only triggering it to do so. Similarly, a person intent on killing lots of people with an AR-15 would not be able to do so if they couldn’t get possession of one. It’s the weapon that does the killing, even though it’s the shooter that causes it to do so.

Yes, troubled people need to be helped — although in today’s political climate there are disputes over what constitutes “troubled”, — but it’s also necessary to keep them from getting weapons… specifically weapons that have no valid purpose except to destroy lives.
