Well, Cal, I gotta tell ya. You don’t get noticed if you don’t do something either ultra grand or super gory . . . or run for high office. They’re about equal.
In “The Innocents Abroad”, Mark Twain’s book about his travels on what was essentially the worlds first “cruise ship”, he is approached by an earnest young man who announces he has begun a journal of the trip. Twain responds that a completed journal is a wonderful thing. Of course, by the third day, the young man is reduced to recording latitude and longtitude. By the end of the week, the journal is never mentioned again.
If you are going to complete a journal, it helps if you are Samuel Clemens. :)

The comic strip Calvin and Hobbes itself is quite an historical record.

Who started their list of mortal enemies first, Calvin or Sheldon?

How about that school bully of yours Calvin., You could start with him. He’s definitely a jerk.

I always imagine that we’re looking into a history time machine…. and that this is young Donald T. His attitude and smarts are about the same.

List of enemies? When Calvin is president, he can give it to the FBI. They’ll take care of them.

A total jerk? To paraphrase a line from Guardians of the Galaxy, I don’t know if I think anyone is 100% a jerk* (the word actually used was di@k)

This makes me think that maybe Calvin grew up to live in an isolated cabin and write manifestos.

Since we’re all reading a 30 year old cartoon – he was actually being prescient!

I’m afraid I had this exact same thought process when I first started journaling daily. And I was three times his age.
Thankfully, the earliest notebooks were lost in a flooded basement many years ago. The more recent, surviving volumes are much less pretentious.

In panel two Calvin once again demonstrates that fantastic vocabulary. He is really a six year old genius.

Calvin has convictions? I didn’t even know he had been arrested!

I’d list most of the people I went to school with. They no doubt would include me on a similar list.
The difference being, I didn’t bully them to the point of PTSD, and didn’t make their lives a misery for years on end.
