The reality is that as science progresses the relative size of the plug and the socket will get to a point of congruence. I am 74 and do not expect it to happen in my lifetime, but I am hopeful that my grandchildren will see it happen.

Mr. Breen is trying to point out that how supplying energy demands through green sources is lagging behind availability. However, the reality is that building up green infrastructure would provide a boost to the economy: jobs, industries making equipment, suppliers.

The standard Republican argument: “We can’t do it. It’s ha-a-a-ard.”

Carter had his flaws as president (slow to recognize the seriousness of the Iranian Rev. being #1 in my book) but the wannabe historians who are quick to criticize Carter don’t know or just ignore the FACTS of what he accomplished: 1) first comprehensive energy policy 2) new pollution controls 3)doubled the size of the national park system 4)signed two major pieces of ethics regulation, increased consumer protections, deregulated airlines/trucking/utilities in a way that aided consumers 5)appointed 5Xs more women (including RBG) and Blacks to the federal judiciary than all of his predecessors combined 6)gave the Veep and the FLOTUS more responsibilities than any other president 7) required banks to invest in low income communities 8) appointed Paul Volcker as head of the Federal Reserve (that means it was Carter’s action, not Reagan’s was what ended inflation) 9)devoted foreign policy to human rights including inviting Soviet dissidents to the WH 10) increased defense spending on missile systems like the MX (that should please you hawks) 11) brokered the Camp David Accords the first peace between Israel and an Arab state 12) oversaw the peaceful transfer of the Panama Canal to the Panamanians (remember the calls for war and doom& gloom from right-wingers then if we’d “lose” the Canal? I do.) and 13) was the first to aid Afghan rebels when the USSR invaded including a boycott of the Moscow Olympics and an embargo on selling grain to the Russians.

There’s a baker’s dozen of real accomplishments that should be considered when assessing Carter; but the focus on his errors (every president makes them) and his “malaise speech” ( a term he never used in that speech) is what passes for critical thought, hmmmm?

Defeatist. But hey, it’s that “can’t do” attitude that has always made USA exceptional.

If we had stayed with the program started in the 70’s, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

Just because something is difficult and will take time doesn’t mean you should give up. Especially if the life of your planet depends on it.

Looks like we need an infrastructure upgrade to support green energy initiatives. Start with re-standardizing the plug size. Get it done for the future!

Looks like this is more an infrastructure problem than a green goal problem. Why aren’t we working to improve our infrastructure?

That “REALITY” label would be more accurate if it said “Refusal to face reality”. Nothing improves when the money monsters rule everything, smash all attempts to improve things, and stomp on the accelerator as we go over the cliff.

What, after all, is the use of having goals?

And after 4 years of ‘infrastructure week’ what did the GOP accomplish? ZILCH.

Surprisingly, Texas is the #1 state in using wind power.

The city of San Antonio owns their power company, they have not only heavily invested in wind power, they also have a very large solar farm.

Fifty years from now, when the ice caps have melted and the atmosphere is full of greenhouse gasses they will call this era (where we knew there was a problem and had the means to avoid it) “The Dithering”.
