Can you fish? Throw a ball? Tell funny stories about when you were a child? All good things that grandfathers can teach grandchildren.

My maternal grandfather could speak a foreign language: German as he was a missionary to Germany before WW2 and worked in the Bureau since his coming home thereafter for forty-ish years until his retirement before my mother was engaged to be married to my father. He also did carpentry as a hobby.

But that would not be true. There are a few things Earl can do.

“There’s almost no limit … " would be more accurate.

When wifey was pregnant with our first child I taught myself to juggle. I figured every dad have the skill, at least the rudimentary three ball cross. I’ll be ready if/when the grand-babies come along

grandson to his mom recently: “Why does Granddude say he knows everything? He doesn’t know [big brother]‘s friend [friend’s name] plays baseball.” (Actually, I did…..) “He doesn’t know clouds are……..tasty!”

Doesn’t matter; I’ve been telling his dad & uncles that for 4 decades and still do (worked better before Google, though).

My brother, on R&R in the late ’60s asked a Copenhagen native if she spoke English … she replied by holding up five fingers. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Knowledge for all geniuses is always far less than lack of knowledge. Knew some in college, though a few of them had ten and twenty degrees. One was working on the newest technology, but said he needed more math.
