Actually, according to the Bible, Moses didn’t write or take dictation; the 10 commandments were written by the finger of God.

Don’t you think God and Jesus are due a load of royalties from all of the Bible sales?

The ten commandments? Deuteronomy 5:6-21 or Exodus 20:2-17? On a different note, I liked Steven Colbert’s take on them. https://is.gd/xLMADg

Sigh Well, the first four are all variations on “love the dictator,” or else, and four of the remaining six are ordinarily impractical to expect or legally enforce. The only two that actually apply in real life, don’t steal & don’t murder, are both just generally good advice for all regardless of one’s religion.

If God is all seeing, all knowing and all powerful, and the commandments and Bible are the word of God, why is there a New Testament? Wouldn’t He have gotten it right the first time, and in a language and format that could be read by all and not “interpreted” for us by a self-interested clergy? Then there’s the whole matter of what “version” of the Bible one follows. Who was King James (no, not the basketball one) and what qualified him to alter the word?

So much talk, here’s the actual commandments

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

.Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

    Thou shalt not kill.

    Thou shalt not commit adultery.

    Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s

My Bible says nothing about “writing the commandments with His finger” – it merely says : “Then God spoke all these words”. It’s up to the reader to work out HOW they were written down. Moses (if indeed he existed at all) may well have ‘taken dictation’, like a ghost writer.
