Reminds me of what I learned during Severe Weather Awareness Week:

  (1) On the road, you’re in danger from tornadoes. Get out of your car and lie down in a ditch.

  (2) In low-lying areas, you can drown in a flash flood. Get out of that ditch and head for the hills.

  (3) The highest object around gets hit by lightning. Get off of that hill and into your car.

  (4) On the road, you’re in danger from tornadoes…

It drives me nuts when people walk in the middle of the street. I came up in my car behind two women walking and gabbing in the middle of the street a few days ago. There was no room to go around. I got about two feet behind them and hit the horn. They about jumped out of their skin and moved to the right side of the road. That’s better than the middle but still wrong. If I’d been distracted or drunk, they’d have been flattened like Monty. It’s right in the vehicle code to walk on the left facing traffic so that kind of thing doesn’t happen, but people don’t seem to believe the law applies to them.

Studies show that cartoon characters are never safe no matter what they do.

Was hit by a car once while crossing a street with the light. Young driver was making a left turn while watching for oncoming traffic. I got a few bruises, she stopped and apologized and we both learned something

I always hated the “car out of nowhere” cliche, it’s basically the animated/comic version of “if it isn’t in the camera frame, it doesn’t exist” trope of bad film making. It’s like in the old Road Runner shorts, where Wile-E-Coyote looks both ways on an Arizona highway (totally flat land where you can see for several miles in both directions) and the instant he sets foot on the road a truck bamfs in and smashes him. So the truck was driving at like mach 2 or something to cover that distance?

I’d say it all depends on which the cartoon character wishes to be, flat as a pancake, or an accordion… ☺

I’m just glad they didn’t show his face. :)

Studies have also shown that cartoon characters carefully going around an obvious danger stand a 97% chance of being run over by an nonobvious danger, e.g. a steamroller or a speeding car.

We think we have it rough.

Funny, a real knee and back slapper!

I’m always amazed by people dawdling in the middle of streets. They’re usually young and don’t know about old, impaired, or just don’t give a $#!+ drivers; which are about most of them out there. This includes lawn workers, police officers and students walking from school. Notice: not everyone is aware as you are, and not at all aware of you. You may think you’re cool, but it’s just foolish.

Watch out for that steamroller, Monty!

It’s your job as a Cartoon Character to sacrifice your body for a yuk, even if the pay isn’t all that good. Be professional in your cartoon career!
