Holy crud! They are banning math books that promote critical race theory? Just when you think things cannot get any more ridiculous.

Shit, all of those were taught in Canadian schools decades ago without the slightest fuss. The US is incredibly out of touch with the rest of the world.

The Republicans, their sycophants/apologists and the Republican owned servants(including the ones who post here) will not be happy until all the kids are ignorant and all the women are confined to the house/kitchen (barefoot and pregnant) just like it was in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Don’t worry kid, we’ll get you a nice shiny black uniform and a job as a guard in one of our Patriot Re-education Camps for those who failed our education criteria. Just let us finish fixing voting errors first for the “good of America”.

The WAPO had a good article about what these repressive groups are doing in TX and other backward states.

What’s happening? Conservative activists in several states, including Texas, Montana and Louisiana, have teamed up with politicians to remove books and cut library boards.

Why? They’re building on a movement that started in schools, going after books that deal with race, sex, gender and other subjects they consider inappropriate.

Censorship battles’ new frontier: Your public libraryConservatives are teaming with politicians to remove books and gut library boardsBy Annie Gowen

    It starts like this:

LLANO, Tex. — In early November, an email dropped into the inbox of Judge Ron Cunningham, the silver-haired head chair of the governing body of Llano County in Texas’s picturesque Hill Country. The subject line read “Pornographic Filth at the Llano Public Libraries.”

“It came to my attention a few weeks ago that pornographic filth has been discovered at the Llano library,” wrote Bonnie Wallace, a 54-year-old local church volunteer. “I’m not advocating for any book to be censored but to be RELOCATED to the ADULT section. … It is the only way I can think of to prohibit censorship of books I do agree with, mainly the Bible, if more radicals come to town and want to use the fact that we censored these books against us.”

Where then is the sane, sensible, proactivist, pro-democracy, contingent working against the irrational, authoritarian, pseudo-theocracy cabal that is counter to our Constitution and most major religions? Is complaining all that can be done and is no action to be taken against the minority that is trying to drag America down? The pen is indeed mightier than the sword as FNC and others have used it to divide Americans against each other by creating an alternate interpretation of our Constitution and history to suit their malicious goal of returning to feudalism.

Florida Dept. of “Education” refuses to release the names of the books or any specific examples of what they consider “inappropriate”. They know that they really don’t have legitimate reasons to reject these books and their list won’t stand up to scrutiny.

Though right-wing republicans are a minority in the U.S. population, they are louder and more likely to vote than moderates and liberals. Moderates and liberals need to get out and vote!

I never thought I’d live to see the US become a Fahrenheit 451 dystopia. I wonder what the world would be like if people were as passionate about their books as they are about their guns.

“The swarm of America includes the vast class of illiterates. They dislike ideas, for ideas make them uncomfortable. What they are interested in is drama. The thing must be presented to them as a form of simple combat, with one side clearly right and the other clearly wrong.” – H.L. Mencken

Let’s take a look at Mr. Hands signs. “ban books” you can still get and read the books, they have been removed from school libraries. “End critical race theory” this subject is a college level course not a grade school level course. “Don’t say gay” first off that is a label the left put on the bill, what the bill does is not allow sex ed to 5 to 8 year olds, why do you want to teach sex ed to young children? “Stop sex ed” no they are not trying to stop it. “No trans athletes” a male that has gone thru puberty then decides to become a woman i.e. trans, has definitely got a physical advantage over biological women, you may as well rescind Title IX because this will do massive damage to women’s sports.

Sex education in Kindergarten through 3rd grade is not helping our kids be educated. It is pure indoctrination and a waste of what little time the teachers have to educate the kids in what they need to learn. And the examples we have seen of CRT in practice have just been race baiting and teaching hatred. Again, nothing helpful for these kids’ to learn science, history and math.. Subjects that most schools in the rest of the world focus on, while we focus on “social justice”.

Sadly politicians have long known motivating voters is more easily accomplished with anger than with ideas. And “the Other” is the easiest anger motivator. The immigrant. The brown-skinned. The gay or transgender. The poor. The sick or infirmed. Unfortunately this anger, once kept somewhat in abeyance, was unleashed with all it’s fury when our 45th President, in his opening campaign remarks, branded Mexicans as drug dealers, criminals and rapists. The republicans didn’t even need to put a campaign platform together because they had found all the voter motivation they needed in stoking fear of “the Other.”
