    Arlo proved here that Janis was right to cool things off between them at that point. His hurt feelings are his own fault. The first thing she told him when they met was how important that art class was to her, and he’s being dismissive of it. He only listened to her enough to try to take advantage of the situation to ask her out, and then missed all the cues along the way that he was moving too fast for her.

    Occasionally, the question of JJ’s age comes up. My guess is that he is either 69 or 70 because he graduated one year before I did.

    Here she comes again. Catch her if you can. She’s got to get a move on. She can run with all of her might. Catch her if you can……

    If this were reality, the best thing Arlo could do to “spark” her interest at this point is to ignore her. Let her simmer about it – she’ll come around.

    My wife is hooked now on me reading this to her in the morning. I am not a big music guy, but she was really into the 70s music so she relates to the song.

    The “moving too fast” is typical from the one you’ll eventually marry. It did for me and my first; rest her soul. Was a widower at 40. Learned that for 40-year-old widows and divorcees, “moving too fast” was not in their lexicon.

    From a poem I saw more than fifty years ago:

    Young love is like an apple;

    It’s eaten and it’s gone.

    Existing simply for pursuit,

    It dies on being found.
