And only casting your vote if you’ve passed all the security checks and have not passed out from dehydration because you didn’t bring enough water in places where it’s against the law for anyone to give you any.
In its single-minded pursuit of power, the National Socialist Party destroyed German democracy. The people paid a terrible price for allowing and supporting the Nazis, one they are still paying.
If men could learn from history, what lessons it might teach us! But passion and party blind our eyes… —Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Funny how the Repuglicant’s HATE the idea of either absentee ballots, or voting by mail…unless THEY are the ones voting that way… like a certain Fat Orange Moron did in 2020…
Or if you live in Texas, when you request a mail in ballot you MUST remember whether you used your SSL or TDL when you registered 1, 5 20 years ago! If you get one right, but it’s the wrong ONE, wrong!!!!
Haven’t had to stand in line at a poilling station ever—I’ve been an absentee ballot for the better part of a decade. In the last election every voter in my state got one. Progress.
In NJ we have the option to have ballots mailed to us. It is an opt-in once policy. We then have all of our ballots mailed to us for every election. We can mail it back or use drop-off box. Very convenient.
I also live in California and have been voting by mail since it became available. I can, and do, use the available online tools to make sure that my vote has been counted. Like Mr. Wuerker, I wonder why I can safely bank online but not vote.
The only time I ever had to wait to vote was when I lived in a city in North Carolina – a HEAVILY Democrat city.
If I recall I’ve not had to wait more than 5-10 minutes at all to get my ballot. Even when I lived in northern cities. The big slowdown has always seemed to be not enough people to get through the address/resident listings to give me my ballot after finding my name……and the stupid poll watchers that the parties send out to keep interrupting the work.
And OMG, you have to wait to vote. Oh the humanity. If that is truly a problem, then the municipal and county and state governments have to fix the problem with more staffing. I’ve never, and I mean never, seen a line of people waiting for a booth to open up, the delay always seems to be when you check in.
One side of the political debate sees its chances improve with reduced voting. The other side’s prospect improve with more voting. It’s as simple as that.
The main modern wonder is that the politicians making it so hard to vote haven’t been tarred, feathered and ridden out of town on a rail by their constituents.

The US runs on the idea that money makes a person good and that poor people are bad (especially if the color of their skin is not “white”).
In reality money does not change a person’s character, it only amplifies it. With money, an obnoxious moron is simply more of an obnoxious moron.

E-voting with a high security personal id – YES, thank you! (We live in the 21st century)…

Uh uh…you only get to stand in line and vote, if the GQP voter officials haven’t purged your name out of the list of eligible voters.

We live in Washington State. We vote by mail. We get the ballot sent to us by mail.
I generally vote in my underwear, typically in my den. No lines. No rain. No parking issues. No drama.
And we’ve rarely voted FOR someone – just not for the worst candidate.
And we have them aplenty.

Oregon has been voting by mail for almost 25 years. Total fraud: fewer than one vote a year, mostly GOP, the rest address errors.

It’s not the lines, it’s that it makes it harder for them the cheat.
