Dick Tracy by Mike Curtis and Charles Ettinger for January 10, 2022

Good morning™, everyone!

“Krak Blam Bash Wham” — Heavy on the sound effects today, maybe the most I’ve ever seen in a daily Dick Tracy strip. It’s not traditional in the Tracy strip, but I think it works well here.

Anyway, lots of action today and Bones seems to have the upper hand by the end of today’s strip. (Yes, that was indeed Tracy’s foot we saw yesterday.)

Round One:

Good morning™, disarmed detectives !

Dick had a great chance is now on the ropes. Who will step in to save his bacon ?

Did I walk into “Batman” by mistake?

Wow, what a perfect strip today. Nothing wrong with it.(Tell the people what they want to hear, right?)

That’s a great fight. Kudos to the team for not wrapping it up in a day. Thrilling suspense and it looks like Tracy might actually lose but lets hope not.

Bones is starting to break Tracy’s bones.

(Spoiler alert): Yeah, well Tracy’s not done yet.

KRACK, BLAM, BASH. WHAM? Is this some new poetry?

Weird art today. It’s good… but…

Awakened by all the gun fire, will a neighbor call 911?

Bones looks pretty spooky in that last panel, I like it.

Two-Fisted Action!

Two words, Mr. Bones… flak jacket.

why didn’t tracy shoot from the ground?

I dissent. I’m spoiled by great comic book artists. This fight scene would only work if it’s meant to be illuminated by a strobe light and be confusing. It’s really hard to follow the action, it’s just flashes.

I like the way Shelly’s art makes you pay attention. The way Bones is looking at Tracy’s dropped gun in the last panel is really good. I think he’s going to try to get that gun, and it will be a mistake.

Tracy had him and then he got overpowered… I don’t know what else to say… I like pancakes with too much syrup. :D

Any damage to Tracy’s hat? Is there still room on the wall?

Action!!! Excitement!! That’s what I meant!!! Maybe Pleger watched the Republic Serials? Ninety years ago? A thing of beauty is joy for ever!!

Just killing time until we find out how Tracy survived 3 gunshots. I predict the kindhearted BJ always used blanks lest he accidentally hurt someone

Bones just lost his “disguise hat”,so there goes THAT idea!!

Both men disarmed—in a fistfight I vote for Tracy.

Oooo…! An extra panel yesterday and one today. Team Tracy can change format when the story demands it.

Great art … but the narrative is a little illogical. In panel one, Tracy is on the ground, & apparently kicking the gun out of Bones’s hand … yet it seems Bones is also taking a blow to the head. How? Then, in panel 2, Tracy is now both holding the gun & engaged in hand-to-hand combat with Bones. Apparently Tracy has retrieved the gun .. so assuming he’s now armed & Bones is unarmed, why doesn’t Tracy just aim the gun at Bones & tell him to put his hands up? Just asking.

Wow! Just reading this—and it’s only four words—leaves me feeling battered and exhausted!

What an action-paced sequence! And it’s not going well for Tracy by panel 4, as surprisingly resilient Bonhomme WHAMs him into the car and he loses his gun (sliding on the car’s roof, followed by Bones’s eery eyes).

How much more punishment will Our Hero absorb before a turn for the better occurs?

Very Marvel like today. What will tomorrow be like? Image Comics, Warner Bros, Looney Tunes?
