Two sports I’m glad I never took up are golf and skiing.

    Don’t forget the ski-lift tickets.

Michael Schumacher immediately came to mind. A man who survived Formula 1…

When I began to ski downhill, Late 1970’s, I paid $25 a lift ticket. How much is it today?

When I was stationed in upstate New York, people would ask if we went skiing. It was February, and I wanted to know how they could ski when the water was frozen over.

Since skiers are rich, they are taxed grossly disproportionately high. Not only is it a pole tax but going down a slippery slope.

Unfortunately the punchline of this particular strip reminded me of the tragic deaths of Sonny Bono and Natasha Richardson.

Okay, a little discipline everyone. No Sonny Bono jokes. Have some respect for the “little ol’ Goombah”.

Nope, it’s the outrageously expensive lift tickets!! In Utah, our lift tickets average about $100 for a day pass. Ridiculous.

Skiing is a blast! Either snow or water. Being a bit of an adrenaline junkie I’ve always been attracted to fast risky sports.

So true, I made a good living fixing broken skiers.People would ask, ‘it is so beautiful here, you must ski all the time?’Answer, “nope, I just fix you guys 7 days a week from Thanksgiving until Easter.I would not even consider it!’And now the costs for a season pass or even a day pass is just outrageous! At least it is out west. Maybe it is more reasonable in the northeast.

One of my brothers broke his leg the first day of downhill skiing. I was never tempted to try it. Walking is more realistic and doesn’t encourage that detached, god-like disregard for basic physics. Enjoy.

I sooooo agree with this comic. Every friend who has ever spoken to me of skiing, also recounts to me their injuries. I’m thinking… and you enjoy skiing why?

“They say skiing is a pastime for the rich.”

So if I take up skiing, that will make me rich?

It’s mainly the many fees and extra costs of going to a ski lodge or ski park.

Never went to a commercial ski slope, couldn’t afford it. I did do a lot of hunting on skis though… on a pair hand made by a Finnish immigrant.

Having nearly broken my ankle, and knowing a Darwin Award winner skied at the same place I do, I can agree.

I learned to ski in college. They still had PE requirements back then and I got credit for a semester of skiing. Regardless of what others may say, it is pretty expensive if you factor in the travel, lodging, meals, lift tickets etc for a family of 5.
