Years ago, after I came out someone asked me if I was sure I was gay since I hadn’t been in a relationship with a guy or had a boyfriend. I replied, “I said I was gay, I never said I was any good at it.”
I as suspected of being gay a few times in my younger years. I think it was mostly because I did not hit on every hot girl in sight (as many of my contemporaries were prone to do).
I remember one of the very early appearances of gay characters on TV. In a 1976 Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, a woman walked in and saw Ed and Howard kissing (I had to google that), and said, shocked, “You’re practicing homosexuals!” They replied, “We don’t have to practice, we’re good at it.”

The true power of reverse psychology is how confusing it is to the truly backward among us, if we don’t employ it.

We have mainly Christian bigotry to thank for promoting intolerance to such a level that the term “self-hating gay” was a socially induced reality.

Sort of like Colbert’s unfunny liberal lampooning a conservative.
