Captchas are like crystal: You broke it, you bot it.

They’re not supposed to get it.

Does this also kind of explain a lot of so-called “great” art? … Like, we’re not supposed to get it … or that “we” are being gaslighted (or emperor’s new clothesed ) into thinking that something is much better than it really is and that we’re not “smart” enough to see it.

I understand that captchas are supposed to be difficult for bots to read, but I find many of them difficult for me to read.

What happens if you answer yes to the “Are you a robot” question?

These guys should stick to the old classics: wiring diagrams, blueprints, and assembly instructions.

I love the one where Lt. Commander Data from Star Trek is looking at a screen which is asking him to check the “I’m not a robot” box…

“Captcha” of this kind if becoming less prevalent as there are other techniques readily available to detect whether a human is operating the computer. Also, the traditional “captcha” can be decoded by computers, it just depends on how much AI “horsepower” you are willing to throw at the problem. Any robot not able to deal with minor visual distortion wouldn’t be allowed to walk around unrestricted. I actually think it would be funny even without the “captcha” reference. Hey, robots in an art gallery looking at a picture of a cat with big eyes would be hilarious. “I don’t get it.”

Is anyone going to point out that “getting” that squiggly writing and reproducing it proves that you’re not a robot on the internet? Naturally these robots don’t get it. Probably everyone knows that, but this cartoon isn’t about the merits, or lack or them, in abstract art, really.

Who or what creates those captchas? Is it done with an AI algorithm? If so, seems to kind of defeat the purpose if they’re created by a robot to start with.
