P3 Never seen a 19th hole in the middle of a fairway like this one, what’s more enjoyable? Aiming your tee shot at the group in front of you as they imbibe waiting to take their approach shot, or having a cold Hoo and dodging tee shots from the group playing behind you? What are the membership fees at Milford CC? This is my kind of golf course!
“She’s here to win a Pulitzer prize for uncovering the vast tentacles of the multi-decade Gil empire. She’s going to be the first one to find the Thorp kids!”
The right answer to the question, “Can I get you some water, Heather? A cup of coffee?” is a job interview for the Milford Star? No wonder the woman in panel 1 is confused.
Will cub reporter Heather use the byline H.E. Burns? Will Marjie make it in time for the Thorp’s swingers pool party? Will Hendricks have to buy another round? No whining Snakers. We finally get what we want. Some MCC action. Or a bland facsimile.
OK, the cartoonists have really gotten down into the weeds on beginning this arc. IMPO a better opening would be Snoopy, on the roof of his dog house typing “It was a dark and stormy night”.
Marjie first pretends not to know her half-priced replacement, whose coaching dreams have apparently fizzled. Gil’s long lost son coming back to seek revenge at Milford CC, using the name “Hendricks!”
So the new “Mudlark Hope” is a Golf Course con-man waiting to take these rubes when they bet he can’t make “that” shot. Either that or I’ll have to sue R& W for using my golf skills in their strip. What’s wrong with blading a shot?
P1 – Come on Marjie, you’re always poking your nose where it doesn’t belong at the high school, and you know every athlete intimately. So how could you forget a girl who played tight end for the boys football team!
P2 – Oh sure, Marjie. Now you correct lady we’ll never see again and pretend you knew who it was all along.
P3 – So apparently Hendricks bought this round….and a new shirt just for kicks as he was wearing red before he ordered. I guess he was tired of being mistaken for Gil.
And speaking of being mistaken, if I’m not mistaken, your next move will be to go to the following link and read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.

Another really slow news day in Milford where all the reporter and the columnist have to do is monitor and gossip about office traffic

P1, At a newspaper? You are soooo funny Marjie!
P2, I thought Heather would wind up as Gil’s apprentice after she called half the plays during her season at tight end.
P3, Hmm, could this be Gil’s long-lost son Jami, all grown up? Stay tooned.

I, for one, am very disappointed that they brought back one of the female students to work at the Milford Star and it was NOT our favorite, Double D!
(And for the life of me, I cannot remember her real name now, lol.)
