Summer greetings to all! This one may offend not one but two religions…however, in my defense, I heard it while attending parochial school:

A car full of nuns was driving out on a country road one day when they ran out of gas. Chagrined, one of the nuns went to a nearby farmhouse and asked for gasoline. “I actually do have some gas,” the farmer said. “But I don’t have anything for you to carry it in.”

The nuns looked around in their car, but all they could come up with was a chamberpot. “This will have to do,” said the Mother Superior. So they filled the portable commode and went back to their stalled vehicle.

As they filled the tank, a couple of Baptist ministers drove by. As they watched the nuns filling their gas tank from the chamberpot, one remarked to the other, “Whatever you might say about Catholics, you’ve got to admit they have faith!”

    Cleter Puckey

Krexter Duger If only Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street was real. I could ask if they’re related if they were.

One time I cleared out 36 acres of land by sniffing out dozens of deadly landmines and unexploded munitions.

May the Lord be with you.

I think I’ll pass on the chicken brains and stick with eating something else to make me live to 111 years of age.

Think I would rather pass this mortal coil sooner, rather than feast on chicken brains. How many chicken brains make a meal?

Lots of elders endure different levels of arthritic problems, but none have so far been reported to have reached Mr. Cluckey’s level. Guess diet and medicines have something to do with that.

Wonder if the pouched rat population has shrunk since they started huniting land mines? Probably wasn’t a healthy change for some.

He was the brains in the family, and then along came Dexter.

Take care, may famed thread spool sorter Grace Cord be with you, and gesundheit.

Brain meat contains omega 3 fatty acids and nutrients. The latter include phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylserine, which are good for the nervous system. The antioxidants obtained by eating brain meat are also helpful in protecting the human brain and spinal cord from damage

What if Dexter would have lived ten years more if he hadn’t eaten chicken brains? How would we know?

Uh, Ripley’s: Magawa was in the news recently because he retired. Is RBION becoming a news aggregator?

Here’s a short article on Mr. Cluckey: https://academic.oup.com/milmed/article/181/3/287/4159243

But one statement that I don’t understand is about his skeleton that’s on display and “features most of its original bones.” Why most and not all, and why even mention it? I can imagine the bones in the ear are probably missing, but what others are also not included?

with the pain of arthritis in the joints and having some very painful experiences with it in my hips/hands/knee – it was extremely painful to think about Mr. Cluckey’s passing. as for long life – I read a couple of years back of a Centurian that said he attributed his ‘long life’ to a shot of whiskey every night before bed. So of course this has me wondering – is eating chicken brains and taking a shot of whiskey every night ‘worth’ living that long? I’m 69 1/2 as my granddaughter counts it and not really wanting to go another 30 years just to have someone ask me how I reached that many years – refusing to eat lima beans, liver, most vegetables and sticking to rare beef, drinking coke, playing golf and reading over a couple of thousand books? yeah, I agree, I’m pretty sure they won’t be asking me that question.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the longest lived people have the absolute worst diets. Like half of them seem to subsist on raw meat and liquor.

You know, finally a RBION I don’t/can’t believe: the arthritis thing. It comes on slowly… years. Many questions about bodily functions at a time before intubation was possible(?). Although, come to think of it, maybe sitting up in a chair would be a civilized way to spend your last years. A mischievous nephew could have thought of something better.

The radio DJ was reading announcements: “A prayer request for Mrs. Jones who is — Oh my! — she’s 111!” A few minutes later, he said: “We have a correction. Mrs. Jones is not 111. Mrs. Jones is ill.”

Here on the East Coast, I’m seeing recipes for cicadas. And warnings not to eat them if you have shellfish allergies, as they are related.
