A few chairs with a blanket across them and you can camp in the living room.

Pucky’s giant yellow raincoat (and even larger hat) might be my favorite on-camera costume ever.

At least they were not out there in the tent when the monsoon commenced.

Some areas would rejoice at this rain. We got a short set of thunderstorms yesterday but what the farms need is several days of nice steady rain.

Long as I remember the rain been comin’ down

Clouds of misery surround us, outside plans are drowned

Pucky peers through the glass tryin’ to find the sun

And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the rain?

Makes me think somehow of the old-timey “weather clocks”.

On fair and dry days the woman came out and on damp and rainy days the man came out.

But of course, we’d replace them with sweet Pucky in his adorbs rain gear and dignified Elvis in his puffed out sunflower mood. lol

We had a pretty powerful thunderstorm come through last night—lots of broken tree limbs and trash cans ending up several houses away. The animals really don’t like the thunder. I think there was a convention of cats under the bed and Iko the dog hiding in her crate in Alex’s room.

For once a wise on-scene reporter, INSIDE the house.

We don’t need more of those weather channel guys, “Kurt, the winds are shrieking at 100 mph, I’ve been told it can overturn our Eyewitness news van, so I am standing here by a lamp post wearing my yellow rain coat.”

“Oh, look, there goes the van, now, Jack is probably still inside.”

Suddenly I forget where they live in the story. IIRC they moved from New England area to Washington state IRL. I don’t think they get tropical storms on the west coast.

Rainy day Pucky always wears a mack when drops start to fall

Rainy day Lupin doesn’t even notice, he’s not bothered at all

Rainy day Goldie remembers when she was once lost in it, boo

Rainy day Elvis doesn’t want his girl cryin’ a tear or two

If you feel downhearted, all you really need is some rainy day love

Rainy day people all know there’s no sorrow they can’t rise above

Rainy day children don’t hate any downpours, that would not be kind

Rainy day people all know how to have fun and peace of mind

Take it or leave it, or try to believe it

If you’ve been down too long

Rainy day lovers don’t hide love inside they just pass it on

When I was little, on rainy days I was making a little tent from chairs and a huge blanket. I was playing, I’m seeking a treasure, which were jelly beans.

A tropical storm is not ideal, but we could use some significant rain in Northern New England. Not as much as they need it out west, though . . .

This is so funny, I was talking to my recently deceased wife’s cousin last night and she reminded me that when her and her brother used to spend the night with our son that we had the tent in the house and how much she enjoyed that. Her cousin was born 2 years before my wife and I got together 35 years ago (she’s 37) and our son is now 30 so the were close in age and my wife used to “babysit” for them for a couple of years while her aunt worked. Microwave those s’mores and all is good.

When you are able to go outside, I always found that two Adirondack chairs turned over facing each other under a shady tree made a nice airy fort.

As performed by Nat King Cole and others: The Christmas Song

Marshmallows roasting over the fireplace fire

Graham crackers waiting on a plate

Chocolate candy melting in a lovely s’more

And we all can hardly wait

    Everybody knows

One lovely s’more is not enough

We eat as many as we can

    Chocolate bars, crackers, and marshmallows

Are great when things don’t go to plan

We know that sometimes when it rains

It can interfere with our fun

But doing something nice like making treats

Can make it seem like we don’t need the sun!

And so I’m offering this simple phrase

To kids of all ages, it’s plain

Although it’s been said some times about snow,

Let it rain, let it rain!

That’s Life, kiddos. The weather has become more unreliable. Wait until everything dries up or do it inside, most likely without the campfire.

I saw an ad for chocolate stuffed smores last night. Maybe they can toast those over a candle and put that on a graham cracker.

The last I looked, the remnants of Claudette are heading for Nova Scottia, not New England. I hope Oak Island will be okay. We got a few sprinkles out of it when we need much more. You know it’s dry when a Southerner is hoping for a tropical storm.

Never found the appeal of camping. I basically agree with Calvin and Hobbes’ statement: “Swatting mosquitos while lying frozen and cramped on bumpy rocks with no TV and only canned food to eat is NOT my idea of a good time.”
