I first parsed that thumb down as a pistol. If you actually look at primitive painting/drawing, you won’t find many stick figures, particularly not female. I’d agree that this holds up AS perfectly now as it might have then. Not very perfectly at all.

When the Romans first did it, thumbs up meant death & thumbs down meant life. Somehow that got changed around over the centuries.

Proof that feminism is nothing new. Nothing trumps the female ego!

Easy to read. From left to right, top to bottom…

“Thumbs up (good) for big boobies on female.”

“Thumbs down (bad) for no wee-wee on male.”

Did anyone else notice that the male archaeologist and the man in the cave drawing have the same beard?

“Thumbs down, signified “swords down,” which meant the losing gladiator was worth more to them alive and was to be spared to fight another day.”…just something else we have wrong

That’s the problem with Neolithic art; how will it look over the sofa, and how would you get it there in the first place.

I wasted some time looking for an art joke before I realized it was supposed to be a “feminist” statement.

I love the kerosene lamp, a nice ’’1920’s’’ touch. With a gentle yellow light. The artist uses the color to show where the light from the lamp is shining. Well done.

I have one of those lamps in the shed.

The old, Roman colosseum thumbs up meant “kill them”, not ok or preference. Thumbs down meant “you get to live” Somehow they got reversed. Wonder which it meant that far back? Don’t assume. She should know better that cultures change if she is an anthropologist

Check out most men’s reaction to a woman with large breasts for proof we haven’t evolved that much since our cave dweling days.

A few have stick figures showing those at a distance. But most of them have some form.
