She’s feline better now.

If she could understand what you said, Earl, you’d get cut up pretty badly.

And I have the pose for the taxidermist. There’s a meme of a cat flippin’ the bird at’cha…

Our cat understands several phrases, including “time for bed” “tschk-tschk-tschk” and “Snax!”. And “Go see the Vet”. But “taxidermist” is not among them…

Looks good as a dead cat.

Notice Earl refers to Muffin as “the cat”. I guess he either doesn’t know her name or doesn’t care. Probably the latter.

Waste of good taxidermy.

Somebody practiced taxidermy on a wildcat and gave it to Grandpa Green.

He kept it under a seat on the front porch.

You’d be visiting, not remembering the snarling taxidermied cat when your eyes happened upon it.

Everybody would laugh at you when you yelled and jerked up.

A little while later, somebody else would do it. FOR YEARS. The same people!!

As if Opal would ignore Muffin for any reason at all.

She’s like, "Uhhhhhhh . . . " I love how comic animals understand English!

Go with the taxidermy. Same appearance with zero cat attitude. It’s a 100% win – win.

She’s not playing dead – a cat who sleeps on her back in the middle of the room is showing she’s relaxed & comfortable in her surroundings. (If she were “dying,” she’d crawl into a corner somewhere.) Sis’s boss Onyx flomps on her back in the middle of the living room rug & snores like a buzz saw. It’s a hoot!

Just vacuum. That’ll give you all the fur you need. The lips and bung hole may be a little tricky.

Reminds me of a crusty museum curator I met up with at my first conference. She said when she was approached to have a pet cat stuffed she replied “You might try a cattery…”

Given its reaction in panel 4 I would say Muffin knows what a taxidermist does.
