Republicans know that “we the people” of the United States DO NOT WANT THEM.
Even with massive voter suppression and rampant cheating, they have lost the popular vote — or as it is known in the rest of the world, “the vote” — in seven out of the last eight presidential elections, and only managed to win two of their three terms because of the undemocratic, unfair disproportionate allocation of the Electoral College, which was racist by design (created to preserve the cruel human rights violations of slavery) and current operation today (all five of the states with the smallest populations are the whitest and least diverse, as are nine of the ten smallest, while the largest states in population are also the most diverse).
Republicans know that, especially as the population becomes more ethnically diverse, younger and their voters die out, they are going to become a permanent minority. They are terrified of losing their white privilege and elite status.
There are more of us — workers, consumers, and real people of all backgrounds — than there are über-rich corporate Wall $treet barons, religious extremists, or anti-science ignorati.
So the only way they can win elections now is by rigging the system, cheating, and preventing blocks of voters from being able to vote based on demographics they find unsympathetic or beyond their ability to manipulate.
Republican measures to obstruct voting have nothing to do with election integrity, as they dishonestly claim. The measures they are trying to block are those that are the safest, most reliable and least subject to voter fraud.
And of course, as they always do, the Republicans accuse others of their own character defects and, any time they lose elections, they accuse others of rigging elections, cheating and all of the things of which they are most guilty.
They seem to be doing their damnedest to make it harder and harder for the non-rich, non-white to vote. And they seem, all too often, to be succeeding. We need another, better, voting rights act, seems as if. I wonder if we can get one.
Not just Black voters, but any voter that lives in a district that may vote the progressive ticket. Think lines eight hours long, think reduced voting locations.
That we allow individual states to engineer elections, to force their will — overriding the popular vote and denying access — shows the apathy of the American voters and their lack of will to defend democracy. Are the “Republicans” counting our this apathy to overturn our democracy? Are we no longer a nation but a confederation of competing states?
I’m a little confused (which admittedly, many consider to be my default state of being). But in the last election, the GOP put out the rumor that the electoral system was flawed. But now, it’s not the system that’s flawed, it’s the electorate that’s flawed – too many people voting the wrong way. So if we fix the electorate, we’ll fix the system. Is that it? /s
The Republicon standard answer every time they lose an election: Way too many of “those” people are voting. They still believe in democracy, those fools. We need to show them that we mean business. We’ll just keep making it harder for them next time. No mail in ballots. You must have resided in the same place for five years. You’ll need five forms of ID to vote in person if your a registered Democrat. If you vote in person and your a Democrat you must bring three republicons with you to vote. Also, our Republicon State Houses will just throw out votes for Democrats when necessary for us to win.
The argument today on news radio was: 73% of Republican voters that believe voter fraud occurred cannot all be racist. Well ok, true; however, what the issue the SCOTUS should be looking at is the reason the GOP legislatures are claiming voter fraud. They explicitly claim it’s only coming from predominantly minority counties, districts, and cities; not cause there’s overwhelming evidence of it, but cause voter turnout cause them to lose. The court’s ruling is going to be interesting once again.

They are also trying to pass laws which will allow republican led state legislatures to overturn elections that don’ come out the way they want.

But we need massive amounts of voter suppression to offset the minuscule if not outright invisible cases of voter fraud, doncha know?
