Our porcine ex-president is the most serious threat to our nation since the Soviet Union started installing nuclear-warhead missiles in Cuba during JFK’s administration. He almost succeeded in destroying our democracy. The writers of the Constitution foresaw this, but they didn’t account for the cavil self-serving nature of the Republican Party. There are too few patriots left in the GOP; it is going to be a struggle to maintain our freedoms in the face of such treasonous support for Trump.
We just need to ignore the traitorous bleating coming from the republican party as it dissolves itself into flatulent irrelevance, and keep firmly in mind that ANYONE who self-identifies as a republican ALSO politically supports racism, bigotry, misogyny, lying to the American public and terrorism in the name of Trump.
The party that claims Trump, once stood for several quintessential American values! it now stands ONLY for Trump!
If you still claim membership in the republican party, I would suggest you examine closely what that now means – I suspect you’ll find that it no longer means what you thought it means. Some are alright with this “unmasking” – if you are not one of them, I would strongly suggest you consider changing your political affiliation! Remember the “dogs/fleas” truism!
McConnell is considering retiring if he doesn’t regain Senate Majority Leadership in 2022.
He seems to think that embracing Trumpism in all it’s unseemly glory is the way to win back the Senate.
Of course, many of the Republican-controlled state legislatures are doing what the GQP does so well – restrict and suppress voting as much as possible, especially in more urban districts.
[insincere apologies to those who have read this post on other cartoons but I felt it was important]
Objective reality time: Donald Trump would not have given the tenth part of a damn if the mob of traitors he incited had actually murdered Mike Pence—because Mike Pence is not Donald Trump. Donald Trump would not have given the tenth part of a damn if his mob of traitors had murdered a slew of members of Congress, even some Republicans, even the ones like Lindsey Graham and Kevin McCarthy who most assiduously kiss his ass, or his fellow seditionists Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley—because they are not Donald Trump. Trump would not have given the tenth part of a damn if 20 MILLION Americans had died of Covid (even if all of them were so white that they glowed in the dark) if that ensured his re-election, because—aw, you guessed it. How the hell can people NOT know this about Traitor Trump?
[Again, insincere apologies for posting this on other toons before, but I also added a bit coming from my exchanges with Zuhlamon, who made many valid points, but I also feel my own points are also valid, so I suppose we can just agree to disagree, in a civil and respectful manner. Maybe we could start a trend………..]
Of course, the House impeachment managers could’ve (and should’ve!) stuck to their principals and told Trump’s crooks (lawyers, but the same thing in Trump’s case): “Fine, let’s stretch the trial out, you can call plenty of witnesses and we’ll call plenty of witnesses.” It wouldn’t have changed the minds of most Republican Senators but it might have made a huge (or at least noticeable) difference in the minds of the American public. And maybe common sense would’ve been absorbed by at least some Trump cultists by osmosis. But, no, everybody was in a hell-fire hurry to end the “trial” almost before it began. What, are Senators the only people—hell, the only MAMMALS—who can’t multi-task? The Senators could actually conduct the “trial” in the morning and perform their other duties the rest of the time. This would cut into their constant trips back home to fundraise (otherwise, obviously, they don’t give a damn about their constituents), but I won’t shed any tears for that. As for the money a longer “trial” with actual witnesses and documents (besides the already aired security and cellphone camera footage) would cost: it would be chump change compared to what taxpayers spent for all of Li’l Donnie’s trips to cheat at golf.
See that Trump sent Moscow Mitch a nasty letter. It had big words that HIS vocabulary doesn’t have so everyone knows HE didn’t compose it. Maybe he paid the guy who took the SAT test. . . . /S

But don’t forget, these precedents that we’re setting can only be used by Republicans in the future – Democrats must go straight to jail…

There’s a new rumor among the Trumpsters that he will again become President on March 8th. Does anyone know where they are getting this latest story?
