I’m sorry that Payne’s mostliest favoritest thing in all the world is going to be changing (for the better, imo) but that’s a fair price to pay.

Oh, and if they can’t figure out how to change out the battery bank in a few seconds, they DESERVE to lose.

Henry is back to his second favorite subject. (His favorite being Michigan Governor Whitmer)

It’s so easy to forget that engine noise is actually a bad thing, isn’t is? But not as bad a sustainability. What could be more evil than sustainability?

Henry can’t fathom the idea that in a race of electric cars, pit crews would have many batteries lines up and ready to be swapped out.

Payne works VERY HARD at not understanding that the goal of science and engineering is to make things work better and more efficiently. It’s a wonder he’s not drawing Model Ts.

E Racing already exists… it wouldn’t take much effort for Payne to find that out. They don’t recharge batteries. It isn’t silent – that many electric cars at the same time makes noise, not ear splitting, but it is loud. And, the audience doesn’t fall asleep. It is fast paced and fun.

Do you think he would prefer that the drivers went back to using flammable materials and no seat harnesses so they can die fiery deaths again?

Yes, there is nothing as important as the Daytona 500. I hear they are going to have eHelicopters to take people from cities to the airport. They will be smaller, avoid traffic and cut down on emissions. Payne will probably have a fit over this!!

Gonna have to crank up a lot of windmills to provide all that “E”. Already you are running out with brownouts every summer.

Nascar is already so boring that it puts people in a coma. The sport is dead, except for a shrinking number of rednecks that still watch it.

Hey Henry. Did you know electric vehicles are able to generate more torque than hydrocarbon vehicles. A lot more torque.

So, Henry, what that means is that they are FASTER than hydrocarbon vehicles. As in they would win shorter races in a fair competition. Soon, battery technology will increase ranges, and the hydrocarbon vehicles will slowly die out.

Sorry Henry. I know truth is hard for you people.

And when there is a crash, it could be worse than gas. It can take approximately 3,000 gallons (11,356 liters) of water, applied directly to the battery, to fully extinguish and cool down a battery fire; always establish or request an additional water supply.

Funny thing. I drive a Prius Prime. Fully charged it gets 25 miles on electric only, but it uses gas also, so I can drive to work and back. It also goes 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds. I’d wager an electric dragster could give a gas on a run for it’s money.

    And it wouldn’t be deafening.

Back in the early "80’s a friend and I came up with a hybrid car that would be very competitive with most cars at the time. We were just getting over the gas shortages of the late "70’s when manufacturers were looking at making a more fuel efficient car. We had to end our endeavor after a visit from lawyers with threats. We had no available cash to pay defense lawyers and no one else wanted to take on the big boys.

NASCAR could be the internal combustion engine’s last stand. I think we’ll see fewer and fewer people owning their own cars in the future.

Sustainable solar or wind energy are at best remote possibilities well beyond our current or foreseeable technologies. The energy required to produce them is more than they save. Your electric car probably needs a fossil fuel generator to charge its batteries. Wind turbines are costly, have a limited lifespan and require large amounts of lubricants to perform well. Some time down the line we will possibly find efficient ways to create more efficient technologies, and we should keep researching them. But, at this point it seems a bit premature and sort of like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

What is really funny, is race cars don’t have to be so loud to go fast. Sure there was a time not having an exhaust system may have been needed to effect the power to go faster, but those days are long gone. Especially, to effect the maximum speed allowed by Nascar. Not muffling the noise of the engines is more for the crowd, for effect, not for speed.

The annoying side effect is the idiots putting improper exhaust systems on their road vehicles. I really hope some day the police find it in themselves to wrack up some money by ticketing all the noise and pollution law violators.

Hint to any cops out there, the diesel pickups with stove pipes are violating emission laws like you wouldn’t believe.

Highly unlikely, but why get your panties all up in a wad over a sporting event? NASCAR is very slow to adopt new technology – it took it 18 years from when carburetors were no longer being sold on new cars before NASCAR allowed fuel injection… by the time NASCAR allows electric cars (if NASCAR even still exists) the batteries won’t need 25 minutes to recharge or can be replaced quickly during a pit stop.
