This happened to us with the first issue of “Dyn-o-mite!” magazine, that had Jimmy “Dynomite” Walker (at the peak of his “Good Times” fame) on the cover holding the same magazine with is image. It almost seemed like one of those things you get when you hold a mirror in front of another mirror.

It’s called the Droste effect.

Infinity covers, for comics, pretty much got their start with EC in the 1950s. But the really outrageous example is in a movie: Mr. Belevedere Goes to College (1949). At graduation he is given a copy of Look magazine, which shows him graduating on the cover. So he poses with the cover, creating the picture that has already been used for the cover… Do I need to say the whole ending wasn’t taken too seriously?

When I was about Miles and Kevins age, and probably a little younger, I had an odd way of falling asleep. I used to love to think about outer space, infinity, and anything that would basically blow my mind, things I just couldn’t quite wrap my mind around. I would lie there in rapt awe and slide into dreamland. Yes, I was (am) a weird kid.
