Major DUNdee surveyed the motley line of refugees fleeing the destruction of their homeland. “Where will they go, what will they do”?

If only there was a Link they could follow to show them the way…

Bunny’s do it. Chickens do it. Elephants do it. Even lazy jelly fish do it. Govid, not so much.

Panel 1, although the species is indeterminate, made me think of anteaters kissing. Now I can’t unsee it. Lingual appendages.

A turn around the house shows it tight against the weather. No windows broken or doors agape. And a key on a nail beside the front door. Whoever used to be here has abandoned it, or has been gone for some time at least, but left the key in plain sight. Is this so remote that no securing of the premises is required, or is it the good will of a person moving on, left for whoever might come along? I will assume the latter, given my circumstances. There are fallen tree limbs in the yard, and there turn out to be tools in a shed and a working fireplace. Stacked beside the fireplace is some sort of odd wood that I have never seen before. It is small, straight branches, less than two inches in diameter for the most part, light and springy. I cannot imagine it to be much worth burning. It is probably there for kindling. No other stacks of wood are anywhere to be found, though another stack of the kindling, a large one, is on the far side of the tool shed. It looks like frost, so I put off further exploration and attend to converting fallen tree limbs into firewood, hoping that there will be blankets or warm clothing inside somewhere.

Everyone can use a little affirmation from time to time, whether you are bunny, chick, hefalump, or frog….

    Shanti, shanti, shanti. Amen.
