For all those who push back against the Hitler comparisons, this “herd immunity” Trumpocalypse is literally Trump’s Holocaust — sacrificing two to five MILLION Americans, many older or otherwise “expendable” — on the germ-infested altar of greedy corporate profits.

Without a vaccine, the only way to get to “herd immunity” is to just eliminate all the safety standards, return to business as usual, and let the infections fall where they may.

Everyone gets the infection, one to two percent get sick enough to die, voilà! Herd immunity, but at the cost of millions of expendable human lives.

The countries such as South Korea, Singapore, and Japan that took early, aggressive action along the lines of the Obama Pandemic Playbook that Trump tossed aside, have infinitesimally small infection rates (under ten deaths per million of population and stable). Trump’s failure has the U.S. currently at 573 and rising. One of the few countries with a higher death rate (per capita) is Sweden, at 576 per million, because Sweden made a conscious decision to go the herd immunity route and, well, here they are.

Pro-life? Not a bit. They are only pro war, pro-death penalty, pro getting rid of grandma, and pro-micromanaging the private lives of everyone but themselves.

I don’t EVER want another phony, hypocritical moralizing “Christian” to wag their nasty finger in my face and lecture me or anyone else about “morality” ever again. They have none. They stand for nothing but their racism and their vile hatreds and their desires to micromanage the lives of everyone else while following none of their own rules in their own lives or of the “leaders” they choose to reflect their hollow, empty moral vacuity.

According to the NYT, he’s already caused the deaths of about 145,000 people in the USA compared with the average number of deaths/100,000 of all the nations in the world.

The people who have brought us to this literally do not value anyone’s life but their own. One simple question – “What’s wrong with ‘truth, justice, and the American Way’ that makes it un-American to want it?”

See: Sweden. Except most or all of them have good access to health care, and still it’s hardly been a success story. It’d be much worse here.

Herd immunity when 70=80% of population gets it. Math 328.2 million in USA, means 70% =229.74 million catch it of which 35% will have long haul to beat (lasts over 2 weeks) 80.4 Million, 4% death rate 9.1896 million, unknown long term effects of organ and vascular damage, and would mean could not travel to countries who did not also do herd immunity technique. Although cases popping up of people recatching this – some think immunity only lasts 3-6 months. So yeah – we don’t want this option.

Herd immunity is just blowing smoke to calm the herd. The ‘herd’ is us, btw.

Herd immunity.. only works if the resistance to catching it again.. holds. The jury is still out on that. Certainly it does not with the common flue or cold.

It’s hard to catch a virus if you’re already dead.

Or at least hard to catch it a second time.

As far as I can tell, all of those who are preaching “herd immunity” seem to be assuming that they will be among the immune part of the herd.

To me, that doesn’t seem to be much different than those preachers who claimed that “God” would protect them. And at least a few of them died of the virus.

I wonder what these “herd immune” folks will do if/when some of their own family or friends die of this coronavirus.

Herd immunity will never happen. For all of human history we have never acquired herd immunity to Coronaviruses for the same reason we have never acquired it for Influenza, It mutates too often and every time you get it it is different enough that our bodies have to start making new antibodies for it all over again. For instance, the Flu shot you get every year is actually for the last couple of seasons so you may still get it, but, hopefully they will help mitigate the symptoms so you can get through it easier or at the very least not die. That is the best we can hope for.

After months of denial, expecting a miracle, having a feeling it will just go away, “game changer” miracle cures, and other unambiguous examples of dithering, cluelessness, disinterest, and stunning lack of empathy, the most logical final argument is “herd immunity”. “Hey, we’re doing everything we can to not stop the spread; let’s say it’s being done on purpose.”

A crawl on CNN the other night showed that the feds (no mention of what department’s funds will be dipped into) are going to spend $250 million on a PUBLIC RELATIONS campaign to make people happier with their situations.

If they tell us, “don’t worry, be happy”, well, why be sad?

Couldn’t use that money to make sure people who are laid off and close to homeless could eat; but they will be able to hum a clever tune when they move into their cardboard boxes under the bridge.

I recommend Randy Newman’s “Mr. President, Have Pity on the Working Man”, with a bridge that’s especially appropriate: “Maybe you’re cheap, maybe you’re blind, maybe you have lost your mind, Maybe all you think about’s yourself”….written about the (first) time that the Trumps were dealing with the Justice Department about denying housing to dark-skinned people.
