    It merely serves a metaphorical purpose today….so sharpness only increases the chance of an accident on the job. And higher insurance rates as a result.

    The purpose of the scythe was to cut the thread between the body and the soul, so the soul was free to move into the afterlife. That was a release from pain and suffering, and thus death’s scythe was to your benefit.
