Trump is counting on the virus, among other RepubliCON efforts to suppress the voter turnout in November. He’s so concerned about mail-in voter fraud. Really? More likely is that he’s scared to death of increased mail-in ballot efforts because It allows way too many people an easier way to participate and he doesn’t like that one bit. He realizes a large voter turnout is big trouble for his re-election. This is the same guy that claims that in person voting is also rampant with fraud. I guess he’s against increased voting efforts in any form. It makes it really tuff to control the outcome.

Vote by mail is the best way to END voter fraud,, as every state using it has proven, repeatedly. Paper trail, signature match, and other elements. Diebold proved its the machines that the threat..

Paul Weyrich is widely regarded as the “founding father of the conservative movement”. He founded ALEC and co-founded the Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority, Council for National Policy, and Free Congress Foundation, among others.

Speaking in 1980 at a right-wing conference in Dallas, Weyrich set out the case for voter suppression: “I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people…. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”

The right wing and GOP are still acting on his advice to this day. Why? Because it works!

How frustrating, just as SCOTUS opened the door to gerrymandering the presidential elections the pandemic raises the proposal to use the US mail which nullifies the gerrymandering …

So, he’s against voting by mail for us but does it himself. Can anyone imagine him standing in line at the polls?

    “Frankly Franklin”

Donald Trump had just laid down for a nap,

To cop a few “zees” before a Twitter Storm rap,

When he saw a strange form at the foot of his bed —

It was Benjamin Franklin just arose from the dead!

    .

    Trump first thought his Hydroxychloroquine

Had been badly dosed, causing his vision to spin.

But then he remembered that face, the one on the bill,

The C-note that never ceased to give him a thrill!

    .

“How’d you get in, and what do you want?

To try to convince me of something or merely to haunt?

I’ve seen Dickens’s story and thought it fell flat:

‘A rich man repent and reform’ — I’d not likely do that!”

    .

“Of the many wrong paths you’ve chosen,” Franklin said,

“Bad intent toward Postal service brings me back from the dead.

A great achievement in my life you intend to abase

Just to ensure fewer votes against you in the upcoming race!”

    .

Trump was now fully awake and felt in command.

He commanded that Franklin go away, to disband

To wherever spirits go when they depart this dimension.

To disrupt postal service was still his intention.

    .

Franklin would say, One’s net worth is what’s left

After bad habits are from the good ones bereft.

By this method, though MAGAs will ever think him a hero,

Trump’s worth at life’s end would be far less than zero.

For the President it’s a “twofer”…. getting rid of the USPS would show that he is greater than Benjamin Franklin and also that he can stick it to Jeff Bezos, his mortal enemy…

Allowing vote by mail would encourage many more people to vote. And, Republicans admit that they can’t win if people actually vote. Republicans HAVE to lie and cheat in any way they can. When people are given a choice of two statements on issues that actually affect their everyday life, one that describes the Republican position and the other the Democrat’s, the Democratic position is chosen by about 80% of Democrats and Independents. No surprise there. The weird part is that just under half of Republicans also choose Democrat positions, unless they are told which position is supported by each party. Then they fall into line and choose the Republican option- 78% of the time. So, it is entirely reasonable for Republicans to lie a lot. The people running the Republican party are in that half of the Republicans who actually believe in Republican positions. They are roughly 25% of the voting public. They have no chance of ever winning a national election unless they keep as many people as possible from voting and keep the rest of them confused enough to vote against their own best interests.

Totally partisan Republicans have shown themselves to be only for their party and not for the USA at all. The have made themselves into the party of greed, theft, lies and murderous incompetence. They have completely ignored the experts that could have reduced the effect of the virus in this country.

We have one third of the world’s deaths from the virus, worse than many 3rd world countries due to the lack of a Federal Testing Program.

Instead Mr Trump encouraged his armed minions to spread the virus hither and yon.

Republicans want to destroy the Post Office so you cannot vote against them by mail.

Enough Dems in the House and Senate won’t allow Post Office operations to be impeded. States decide whether to allow voting by mail, not the Feds. Tiny may want the power to ban this, just as he thinks he can order states to allow houses of worship to open but he doesn’t.

    Curbing the Vote – {4 beats/line}

Again he’s gone postal {and quite off the rails}, -

    - this time that voters must not use the mails

to force The Donald to furl his sails

because at presiding The Donald fails.

    … Coda:

[{ Rights in voting his party curtails

in many a way as it falters and flails. }]

I have voted by mail for decades it works well. My vote is still counted by-election poll volunteers. The system works well here in California where we believe all real live breathing citizens regardless of age race culture gender party or financial status be allowed to vote

Did you see what didmac2 just waved before your eyes? His magic wand? His fortune teller’s seeing eye goldfish bowl upside-down? No proof of conspiracy required. Just say the creep who NEEDS to steal the election can’t be guilty of it. The thug with an army at his control won’t use simpler means to keep his crown. The dullards who believe that sort of conspiracy time after time. That’s all he really wants is enough of a base to show up to give credence to a ballot challenge – before fascist-minded rightwing judges he appointed.

What I can never understand is why democrats haven’t fought highly effective voter suppression tactics by republicans as forcefully as republicans have screamed about statistically non-existent voter fraud. This next election may well signal the end of our democratic experiment.
